5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Textbook, October 1, 2011
This review is from: Electrical Transport in Nanoscale Systems (Hardcover)
This is a very useful book. It is self-contained, so you don't need to constantly search for references to past work. That is a rare attribute for a book at this level, and is a big benefit to those who are new to nanoscale transport. The author makes a point to clearly explain the qualitative picture as well as presenting the quantitative results. As other reviewers have mentioned, all assumptions and approximations are stated and explained. This was a great learning tool when I was a graduate student and I have since found to be an excellent reference book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book on "electron transport theory in nanoscale junction", March 29, 2011
This review is from: Electrical Transport in Nanoscale Systems (Hardcover)
This is an excellent book on electron transport theory in nanoscale junction that provides a thorough description of different formalisms to transport problem. It is very helpful not only for the students those who are working on this field but also for the researcher who wants to learn various fundamental issues pertaining to electrical transport in nanoscale junction. Particularly the physical insights, the description of limitations and open challenges in each chapter are very useful. We used this book recently in our graduate course in nanoscale science and technology. This book was suggested to us by our advisor. We found this book very accessible; physics and derivations are clearly spelled out. Everybody in our class loved this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good tutoring and reference book for nanoscale electronic transport, November 23, 2010
This review is from: Electrical Transport in Nanoscale Systems (Hardcover)
If you need a tutoring or reference book on nano-scale electronic transport, this is one of the best books to have. The book has both clear physics explanation and detailed yet easy-following mathematical derivations. I found the book very educational and I enjoy reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book around for electron transport, August 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Electrical Transport in Nanoscale Systems (Hardcover)
I think this is the best book available for Electronic transport. Especially if you are inclined to understand the theory behind it. The best part was the chapter 3 where di ventra explains elegantly the Landauer formalism from a simple scattering picture without incorporating the complicated keldysh formalism. I just loved this book and I personally feel that the insight you get into transport behavior is amazing. I strongly recommend this book for people who want to learn the math and the physics behind electron transport

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent book, December 7, 2009
This review is from: Electrical Transport in Nanoscale Systems (Hardcover)
I am very impressed by this book. I think it is the best book on transport available. It covers a huge amount of stuff. Some topics can be found in other books, like Landauer, Kubo, etc. But some are unique to this book: noise, electron-ion interactions, hydrodynamics, DFT, etc. What I like the most is the style: unlike other books on the subject, the author makes a serious effort to point out the approximations required to derive a given equation. The reader is thus guided through the physics and the details of each equation, so that they do not seem to come out of nowhere. Difficult topics are explained with great clarity, making the book an easy read. This is an excellent resource for students and professionals to learn transport.
