2.0 out of 5 stars ditto, plus WAY too many errors
My students have also asked me to change books. It does contain some good information if you can wade through the mistakes to find it.

This review is from: Electrical Wiring Commercial: Based On The 2005 National Electric Code (Paperback)
This book was perhaps intended first for vocational school students who will become electricians, but our small professional engineering firm has used it for more than a decade as a self-study professional development course for young mechanical and electrical engineers with design responsibilities for building HVAC systems. We just bought five copies of this latest edition.

The twenty-one units average sixteen pages each and cover all topics needed to calculate and layout the design of a small commercial building. The book even includes a complete set of ten architectural and electrical drawings, so the reader can see what a completed electrical design looks like when ready for contractor bids. It's all here - from the branch circuits for receptacles, HVAC motors, and lighting through the panelboards, and electrical service.

The book has several hundred illustrations, charts, and tables and detailed references to the National Electrical Code.

The author is a licensed electrician and teacher. His coauthor is a professional engineer and professor.

It is a very good book for electricians. This book is the textbook for a trades school. The NEC, National Electrical Code is one of the principal subjects in the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Needs Help, January 3, 2011
This book was required in a class I took. I couldn't find one student that had anything good to say about the book. I have 201 college credits, and 97 of the credits are in electrical classes. This has got to be one of the worst text books that I've ever used. There are many mistakes in the calculations, and the authors did a poor job of clarifying a lot of the material that was covered.
Towards the end of the semester the instructors assignments were to find as many mistakes, in the calculations, that we could find. The Instructor indicated that she was going to send, all the mistakes to the authors/publisher. The book needs help.

Received the product as indicated, however the shipper did not track the product as planned. The seller indicated it would be delivered as agreed. The shipper said it would be 5 days later. However that was only minor issue since they actually delivered it as planned. Product was new as indicated and a great deal for someone putting 2 kids thru college.
