The power of a thunderstorm caught on CD,
By
This review is from: Electrifying Thunderstorms (Audio CD)
OK, thunderstorm lovers, this one's for you. This is just like listening to the real thing. I grew up in the Northeast, in a place where thunderstorms don't tend to signal floods or tornadoes, so I do love the sound of them myself. When I get some home alone time and I just want to read and have some background sound going without words to interrupt this is one of my favorite CD's to listen to. It's actually managed to confuse my neighbors too. Once, my upstairs neighbor came outside with an umbrella, very confused to to see a clear, moonlit night when she swore she'd heard rain and thunder. There are some very loud thunderbursts, making this CD hard to go to sleep to. If that's what you want it for then I'd recommend their Tropical Rain Forest CD which is much gentler.

Best I could find...only one complaint,
By A Customer

This cd is what I was looking for as far as the intensity of the storm is concerned. The thunder sounds real and can be loud at times. The only complaint I have is that there are periods of just rain that seem rather long for my taste. I've been trying to find a recording of an intense storm with frequent thunder. This has the intensity, but not quite the continuous thunder I was looking for.

Authentic, with no music.,

This is a very realistic thunderstorm recording with no distracting music. There are some loud thunderclaps, so it's not one to help you sleep, and there are some long stretches of rain with no thunder, but that adds to the authenticity. I play this while hanging out at the house for a relaxing, lazy day and it creates great atmosphere.

Another great live set from the Creator of the universe,

If you believe, as I do, that there is more drama in one thunderstorm than in any ten movies, you'll love this CD. And if rain and thunder move you more than popular music does, buy this immediately. But just a word of warning. If you listen to CD's like this to relax, you should be aware that there are a couple of really LOUD thunderclaps here.

They sure named it right.,

I love the sounds of the rain falling on the ground, but the thunder is very, very overpowering. You couldn't get to sleep listening to this.

Sorry. Not up to par.,

This CD is not recorded with the best of technology's offerings. The rain sounds like spittle, and the thunderclaps sound as fake as something from a 1940's melodrama. Not a lot of reality here. My advice is to buy Thundering Rainstorms. The Thundering Rainstorms CD seemed more "real" and less phony. I love the storms of the Midwest, but listening to Electrifying Thunderstorms made me think of horrid old B movies. By the way, if you are making a movie that needs a thunderstorm track, then this is for you. Total "B" Movie sound.

I have purchased other sounds of nature cds becasue I really like listening to the rain at night when I'm going to slepp. I was really disappointed with this cd. The rain sounds are really low and like it is dribbling from a pipe rather than a rain storm and the thunder is exceptionally loud, too loud in comparison so its jolts you awake. If you like loud thunder then you will like this but I wouldn't recommend for a relaxing listen at night.

Before I purchased this CD I read a review that said that some of the thunder claps were too loud to sleep by....not so for me. If you like the sounds of T storms, you'll like this. another sleep soother and inducer. It's also good for a cloudy afternoon and a good book.

I purchased this cd to help me sleep. It works great. Yes, I would have liked louder rain and quieter thunder, but it does the trick so I am not going to complain. I did not notice any of the static-y sound that others have mentioned.

OUTSTANDING IMAGING! Weak thunder!,

This recording is the best I've heard as far as imaging is concerned. The thunder moves slowly from one side to the other... very precise! Close your eyes and you can pinpoint the sound of the thunder... exactly where it is at any moment... BUT the thunder sounds rather tinny. as if they used very cheap microphones to record the sound of the thunder seperately from the sound of the rain. I've seen more than my share of thunderstorms in my life... and this recording is only accurate in how the sound of the thunder moves... not what it sounds like. Thunder starts as a "crack" then trails off to very low frequency rumbling as it crosses the landscape. Not so in this recording. The crack is there at the outset... but trails off into rumbling that sounds more like a cheap sound effect from a 1960's sound effects recording. If you have a high-end sound system, you might be sorely disappointed in this recording
