I've used swing-arm lamps in my home office for the past 3 decades and this is by far the best.

Most of these swing arm, clamp on lamps are junk. As an artist for 50 years I've been through dozens of them. This one is the best I have found...made to last. I have been using it for two months now and it shows no signs of wear. The clamp is over engineered, it will take a 100W bulb and the arm locks are made to last. It is worth the extra money.

I've used swing-arm lamps in my home office for the past 3 decades and this is by far the best. I've just ordered another one, for use at work.

The lamp is sturdy and easy to adjust. The internal reflector, metal with white enamel, increases usable light output. Louvers at the top of the lamp dissipate heat but, thanks to the reflector, do not give off glare.

What a welcome contrast to the cheap import I purchased only last year. Two key parts of the adjustment mechanism succumbed to metal fatigue. The on-off switch became difficult to turn. The lamp overheated when used with a lightbulb of the maximum recommended wattage and ultimately suffered burned-out circuit wiring. Not a bargain by any standard.

I own and use two Electrix Lamps, both for about four years now. One is Electrix 2245, and another is Electrix 2225. The 2245 is on the clamp, and it is clamped to a desk. The 2225 is table-base. The 2245 has 45 inches reach, and 2225 has 28 inches reach.
In both of these lamps the 100 Watt incandescent bulbs can be used. Both lamps give very good illumination.
I do not think that the clamp of 2245 lamp which I have is the best that is. I think that some time before I bought these lamps, Electrix changed the design of clamp for 2245; before that they had much more rigid clamp, cast-metal clamp, I think. In the 2245 lamp which I have the clamp is stamped-metal, I beleive. What clamp they use now for 2245 - I do not know. The 2225 has base of sufficient weight, and that lamp is very stable on desk.
Both lamps have, I think, switches of not sufficiently good quality. In one of the lamps, the switch was out of the order almost immediately after I bought it. I had to send that lamp for repair to Electrix. I had to pay for shipment of the lamp to Electrix, and they repaired it and sent it back to me free of charge. In another lamp, the switch worked for, maybe, 2 years, or so, and then I had to send that lamp to Electrix for repair, too, and to pay for shipment of the lamp to them. That was also when the lamp was under the warranty, so I did not have to pay for repair and for shipment of that lamp back to me.
Today, the switch in 2225 lamp is working, but in 2245 it is not working again. Well, in 2245 the switch is stuck in the position where the light is on, so I simply plugged that lamp into something which has its own switch, and use that swich to turn the light from 2245 on and off.
Would I buy these lamps again? I am not sure.

Highly recommended! Easy to clamp onto to the corner of a desk or table, can be positioned to spotlight any area or entire work area. Well-made, worth the price.

This is a traditional architect's lamp. It is very nicely made. The 45" reach is real and useful. It clamps securely and all the parts swivel nicely. It stays put.

After about a month, the switch, a simple rotary switch, started getting harder and harder to turn. Finally, it took pliers to move it, and finally it failed completely. I contacted Electrix and they sent out a replacement.

We again have a delightful; no play on words; lamp.

Bob

I bought a cheap swivel lamp before this one. The base had a weak plastic tube which the rest of the lamp fit into. The plastic tube broke, rendering the lamp pretty useless. I've heard from others that this is a fairly common problem with swivel lamps. The base of this lamp is partially plastic but the plastic is very thick. This lamp is the most durable lamp I've seen of it's type. It's definitely worth the extra expense.

I received my first light just before Christmas. The box itself was in fine condition so I know there was nothing wrong with the shipment. I opened the box and discovered the light to be badly damaged. The reflector bowl was dented and scratched up. It was in such poor condition that the mechanism the light screws into was hanging loose. The box was undamaged and in its original tape so I know this wasn't a product that was returned and reshipped. I contacted the seller and they sent me an exchange.

Fast forward to today.

I receive my new lamp today. Again the box is in fine condition and with the original tape. I open the box and don't even need to unpack the lamp. I see a large metal part sitting loose on top and resting against the reflector bowl. I move it a bit and see it has damaged the bowl just like in my previous shipment.

I am done with the manufacture of this lamp. They have a complete disregard for the quality of packaging. The condition of the two lights I received is entirely on them. I told the seller today I want to return this with no exchange because I know the manufacture has no pride in the work they do and I will likely receive another defective product.

Save yourself the aggravation and buy a better product. You spend this much on a dang desk light you expect something better. Personally I'll probably get a better light if I just buy a $20 piece of junk at a local discount store. Shame on the manufacturer for such poor packing.
