This is a great EHX Phaser pedal .
Jeff Weber
I play both guitar and bass and can say the EHX sounds great with both and can really dig into my signal with the bass.
MetalFan
Then with the color setting on you get a clean and very lush/rich tone that sounds great on any setting.

Being into psychedelic rock-n-roll and all that jazz, I LOVE this pedal. With the color switch on, it gives you a deep, smooth sweep with a huge range, similar to the TAME IMPALA guitar sound in "It's Meant To Be" or "Solitude is Bliss". Before this pedal, I had the MXR phase 90, which gave me some unwanted distortion. With the small stone, the tone is clear and smooth as can be. However, if you want a phase effect that is noticeable but not in your face, this pedal is not what you're looking for.

PROS
Color switch offers versatility
Single rate knob makes it easy to use
Sounds amazing: bright, smooth sweeps with huge range
No distortion from delayed signal
Sturdy structure

CONS
Not the prettiest pedal ever
No "in-between" phase effect: (color ON: deep sweep / color OFF: effect is hardly noticeable)

YES, I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PEDAL

I actually like the sound of this pedal. It is pretty different than the MXR Phase 90. It has a mode that is much more over the top, which is good for slow rates, and a very subtle mode for fast rates. The MXR sounds really good in front of a distorted amp. The EH gets a little lost, so I would say it would work best after OD pedals into a fairly clean amp.

The one problem I had with it is that it would make a clicking sound though my amp in sync with the rate knob, even when the pedal was bypassed (it is supposedly true bypass), so somehow the LFO circuit was leaking into my signal chain. This was using a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power II and the EH was on it's own circuit. Not something you would hear at bedroom levels, but when I cranked my Deluxe Reverb up to play with my drummer, it was quite noticeable.

Could be a defective unit, could just be incompatibility with my particular setup, but I have a Reteo-Sonic Phaser as well, and it is completely silent....but of course, it is also more than twice the price.

I use this pedal with an Ernie Ball Pan Pedal. That way I can blend exactly how much off the phasing effect I want in the signal - and create interesting crescendos and washes.

Great pedal. Especially for the money. Classic warm phasing.

Very groovy.

If you are looking for a straight up, no frills, phaser I highly recommend this pedal. The waves this pedal produces can be best described as "warm and cosmic" with a much deeper, realistic phaser sound than a lot of other digital phasers such as the boss ph-3. The color switch provides a little bit of room in versatility (see youtube videos). The construction of the pedal is solid and it will not take up much room at all on a board. Get this pedal and you will not be disappointed!

I love this pedal. I have it in my chain right after my VOX wah and tube screamer and before other various pedals. The Small Stone provides an even, swooshing sound that is very lush and very different from chorus, flanger and delay pedals. Its a very useful pedal and not just for messing around. Many well known rock songs use this tone. Only drawback is the button in lieu of a stomp lever since i play without shoes sometimes, but not an issue if you wear shoes, ha. Enjoy.

The Small Stone is a great phaser pedal with simple controls and it's easy to use. With the Color setting off you get a great clean vintage phase tone and it sounds great with medium and high tones. Then with the color setting on you get a clean and very lush/rich tone that sounds great on any setting. With the color on at 7 or 8 o'clock it sounds great with distortion/fuzz/overdrive pedals. I highly recommend this pedal to anyone that wants a phaser pedal!

Just bought the small stone and have to say for it's low price it is pretty good. Most phaser pedals are pretty similar anyways, but I have played others such as the boss phaser and I think it gives it a decent run for its money. Although I also feel like it's almost all personal preference so you're best bet is to play them and decide yourself. The small stone is good for it's price.

Use this for bass. Better than the big box version. No low end loss. No noise. Sounds good. Small foot print.
