Excellent dough kneader,
This review is from: Electrolux DLX-2000 Magic Mill Assistent Stand Mixer, MagicMill DX200 N24 Ass... (Kitchen)
Electrolux DLX-2000 Magic Mill Assistent Stand Mixer is a superb dough kneader. I make bread so I have not used it to make other food items. I took up bread making last year after a 25 year lapse. I started with an all in one bread maker but it was not versatile enough. I sold it. I then tried a Kitchen Aid Professional 600 which burned out after 5 minutes of kneading 6 cups of whole grain flour. I returned it. I bought the DLX-2000 and I haven't looked back. It handles 12 cups of whole grain flour without a hiccup. The resulting dough is beautiful.
This mixer is solidly constructed. The foot print is about the same as the large Kitchen Aid stand mixers but it is not as tall. It is much easier to use because the bowl is completely open. I bought the grain flaker attachment. I'll report later how it works.

I absolutely love this mixer. This is the second bread mixer that I have owned. I routinely make 3 2# loaves of bread at a time. One loaf is always for a neighbor. The DLX works a little different than other mixers, however after you get over the initial learning curve, it is great! I use freshly ground whole wheat. I also use it for other things. I make several meat loaves up at a time. It sure beats mixing the meat with my hands!
It is wonderful! I highly recommend this product.

I have had this mixer for about a year now. I bought it to relieve my 20-years-old Kenwood (made in England), that I have been using for all my mixing needs. As I progressed to the real bread dough, including sourdough, and as I like to bake a larger batch and then freeze it - mainly because I not always have time to make bread - the Kenwood was beginning to strain a bit. I decided to buy "him" a helper, who won't mind heavy dough in large quantities. My choice was Magic Mill Assistent. FYI: it is still made in Sweden, with superior quality parts. It is very versatile. It will do anything and everything that the Kenwood does. It does not mind mixing multigrain sour dough for 4 large loaves of bread all at once. It does not even strain while doing it...
Yes, one has to be careful while operating the mixer. Don't stick your hands in the mixing bowl, especially with heavy dough in it. You may get your fingers messed up, and the machine won't even slow down. I bought mine with 2 bowls, roller, scraper, beater, and the bread hook. It does take some getting used to, because it is not the attachment that is powered. It is the bowl that turns. The machine has a timer. It also operates on a simple on/off switch. It will go from very slow to very fast. It has a right speed for any dough/batter. It is LARGE. It comes with somewhat confusing manual, which also includes pretty good recipes. For smallish batches, I still use the Kenwood, but the smallish batches come around more and more seldom. The Magic Mill does its magic about once a week. Oh, and it is quiet, too. Cleaning is a breeze, even if one does it by hand. It is my personal preference, that I avoid washing plastics and stainless steel in dishwasher - but I imagine it would be OK to wash it there. It is expensive. You know what? I considered it an investment. So far, I think I invested well, and I already have returns. And another fact, to me personally VERY important: it is NOT made in China.

I love my DLX Assistant. I have had it for many, many years. The power has been lost however because it needs a new belt. I have contacted the manufacturer many times about how to obtain various replacement parts and never even get a response. That is my only disappointment with this product; lousy customer service on the part of the company that makes it or distributes it.

This is a great mixer. I have had a kitchen aid and I like this better, you have to give yourself time to get used to it, it works differently then the kitchen aid. I like how it is open, easier to put ingrediants in. You have more control over the mixing and the speed. You don't have to constantly scrape the bowl it has a scraper that does it for you while its mixing. This mixer is strong enough to knead bread dough without straining the motor. I am very happy with this mixer.Electrolux DLX-2000 Magic Mill Assistent Stand Mixer, MagicMill DX200 N24 Assistant

This mixer is great for doughs due to the unique design. Found it did not work well if you use butter straight from the fridge, Kitchenaide seems to be able to handle it much better. Would highly recommend for bread, especially with the large capacity.

I personally did not buy one from the manufactur. I am a mother of six young kids--five boys and one girl....All with an appetite for homemade bread! There is a dear little lady we know who always makes bread. I had told her of my dream to own a kitchenaide. She told to me come to her first, she had a machine that made the Kitchenaide look pathetic! As she had several models in her home (she tests them for companies and does demonstrations) she ended up GIVING me this older machine! We knew it must have been a huge price and wanted to pay her something for it and were able to come up with a $100. We had no idea what in the world this weird looking machine was, (thought it was a different type of Bosch or something...) but was overwhelmed by her generosity and grateful to have it..... (Truthfully, I was still a little disappointed because it wasn't my dream Kitchenaide) Well, two years later, let me tell you! THERE IS NOTHING BETTER FOR BREAD OUT THERE!!! I make a big batch once a week and end up with FIVE loaves (12-14 C of flour!). Sometimes I use wheat flour as well. It doesn't skip a beat. We make pizza once a week.....bread sticks, scones... you name it.... it does it without even a small hick-up! Cleanup is SUPER easy! And I LOVE the lid that comes with it to help the bread dough rise. I do not know what I will ever do if the thing goes out on me. I know that it is very old. I guess I will need to start saving up now to replace it for when and if it ever goes out on me! I'm hoping that it is still a long time away.
Mine also came with another attachment bowl for mixing things....I feel that the Magic Meal is great for bread but for making large batches of other things, like cookies and cakes, another mixer would be more suitable! (Maybe a Kitchenaide????) With the center post in the regular mixing bowl(not the dough bowl), I just found it harder to work around... Although this little lady says that is does wonders for homemade caramels... Haven't tried that one yet, but maybe someday when I can do something more than meals, dishes, diapers, laundry, sewing repairs, homework help, piano lessons, yard and garden work, scouts, and emergency mess clean-ups, I'll have to try the caramels!!! :) Thanks Magic Meal, for making a small portion of my job as a FULL TIME MOM, a little bit easier!! Awesome tool to have if you are in the Mother trade!! :)

The Assistent (aka Magic Mill) is the best appliance in my kitchen. There is a learning curve to use it but once you understand that your dough needs to be the slightest bit sticky so it can cling to the wall a little, you'll have your great "aha" moment and understand why this machine is so highly prized by people who use it.
It takes what I give it and begs for more. There is nothing I have done that slowed it down, it is a monster. It was given to me by a friend who was leaving the country with the understanding that if he comes back, he wants it back. I am sad to say that this will be the end of our friendship since he will have to pry it out of my cold dead fingers. Seriously, I love The Assistent so much that I will just buy him a new one. That and the fact that I am about to purchase a few of the attachements like the blender, the meat grinder, and pasta maker. The tension bar does tend to whack along the side a bit but if you stand by and adjust the tension up and down, not a problem. I wish this mixer were made in the USA but Sweden is good, too.

I only use it for bread and it has performed well so far. Quiet, stable and convenient. At the price it should be. I find it kneads the dough just fine and does not raise the temperature of the dough. Had good results from day one. One problem I had was the knob used to tighten the overhead arm had a small piece of sharp metal protruding that was sharp enough to cut my thumb. I filed it down but with the polished finish on the knob and arm I don't know how this got past their QC dep't.

Not your typical stand mixer,

This is the ultimate stand mixer for make bread dough (yeast Bread.) Has a very unique dough hook than produces results very similar to hand kneading. The issue with it is that it is different! And yes it takes some getting use to. But if you invest the time you will be rewarded with great results. Making cakes and cookies, the creaming of butter and sugar is second to none. The wisk attachment makes very fine, high volume egg whites. Other high end stand mixers can match the performance in mixing task, but it is a class of its own in making yeast breads.
