Brand new and high quality. Value for money, easy to carry. Designed to meet CE industrial standard. Dimension: 13.5cm x 7cm x 3cm. Display readings: three semi-liquid crystal display, maximum reading low-frequency 1999V/M/High Frequency: 1999uW/cm2. Level: low-frequency V/m, high-frequency: -uW/cm2. Measurement time intervals: 0.4 seconds. Operation voltage: 9V.(NOT INCLUDE) Operation temperature: -15 degree to +60 degree. NOTE: The dosimeter is for testing the electric field radiation, if the equipment like computer connect power ground loop well, it would lead electric field radiation to the ground, to shield it, then the test failed. Besides, metal will shield the radiation. If the meter display "0" always in testing. Please change a battery! Package included: 1 x Electromagnetic Radiation Dosimeter 1 x User manual

There is a myth going around the Internet that electric vehicles emit super strong EM fields and as such are a health hazard to drive, ride in or even be near.
I was curious if I could detect any high level EM radiation coming from either of our electric vehicles, especially my home-made Geo EV. Unlike a Nissan Leaf (or any commercially made EV), my Geo EV did not go through extensive EMI testing and certification.
I would expect to detect at least some field reading but surprisingly, no matter how aggressive or gentle I was on the throttle, from inside the cab of the Geo EV (even with 300+ amps going through its DC brushed motor), I was not able to get the meter to even register a reading. It must be the additional shielding brought on by the car’s metal uni-body construction. A Faraday cage. Cool!

The meter does indeed work though. I confirmed that it could detect a field coming from various household appliances (a rice cooker, a cell phone, a hair drier, florescent lights, cooling fan and electrical wires inside the walls of our home).
This meter also serves as a valuable tool to locate live wires when doing remodeling.
I was not able to detect anything coming from our LCD TV or LED computer monitor. Gone are the days of the low-level radio and X-ray emitting CRT screens.

As an electrical engineer with an emphasis in electromagnetic fields, it is my professional understanding that this meter only measures the electrical field component and not the magnetic field. and only in the frequencies specified. As such, you will not detect radioactive sources or any other shorter wavelength EM radiation. Basically just stuff in the radio spectrum.

ok...so i got the item and it took forever to get to me, upon receiving the item i opened it read the instructions and booted the device up. Being an electronics tech and a paranormal investigator i would say the meter is reading in milli Gauss(another unit of magnetic force) when paired with an analog meter we noticed that it was quite accurate. For those of you that don't know 500 milli Gauss is the equivalent to 50 micro Tesla, and we all know that 500 milli Gauss is .5 Gauss, which is actually quite normal for a base reading in one's home. All in all, decent, not recommended for more "delicate" readings, but or a base or average, it will work just fine

I realize that this thing was cheap, but I expected it to at least work. This is in no way, shape or form an EMF meter. It is nothing more than a random number generator with a red LED and a "beep". After unboxing, I inserted the included battery, turned the unit on and set it on a table. "000" appeared on the display, as expected. I placed my cell phone next to it. . . nothing happened. I moved the phone all around the unit and even made physical contact with the unit. . . still nothing. I turned on the phone's Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. . . still nothing. Sent a text message and placed a call. . . still nothing. I picked up the unit and walked around the house, placing it in physical contact with light switches, outlets, running microwave oven, fridge, fluorescent bulbs, TV, monitor, computer tower, laptop, wireless router, even an actual electromagnet being switched on and off. . . all with absolutely no reaction from the so-called EMF detector. Now comes the really funny part: If I lightly tap the unit with my finger or wave my hand in front of it, the LED blinks, it beeps loudly and random numbers flash on the screen!

I was looking for a piece of actual scientific equipment, not something one might see on "Ghost Hunters". I will definitely be sending this back

I got this for home use and the occasional paranormal investigation. I have found certain items in my home that are high emf producers. As for paranormal investigations- I used the meter on a recent one. A friend was using a K2 meter and both of our meters began to respond to something at the same time. Both meters then stopped simultaneously.
Pros: less expensive than other meters; lightweight; appears to respond to emf
Cons: flimsy plastic; no decimal point on digital readout(but common sense tells you where it should be); unsure how accurate it is
In any case I think this is a pretty good deal for the price. The meter is useful around the house and is a relatively inexpensive addition to any paranormal investigation kit.

The price on this item was so low, I thought it was a mistake. When I got it, I found it does work & detects electromagnetic radiation from things in my home. I can't say for sure how accurate it is, but I can tell which things produce a lot of radiation. Like this one antique lamp i have: even when not on, it was radiating a lot, & it was right next to my bed. This detection gives me the option to move it or get rid of it. Very useful!

It's obviously made in china, but instructions are in both English & Chinese. It's easy to figure out.

I've looked everywhere online for a cheap EMF detector! The cheapest I found was $25 and it was the ElectroSensor. This product is WAY better! Easy to use, digital LCD screen is crisp and clear and it even has a blinking LED and beeping alarm for EMF spikes!. You can get ones that have Chinese or Japanese on it (like the one pictured) but the item I ordered it from was BestDealUSA and it was shipped from New Jersey and it was a EMF Detector that had ENGLISH on it, unlike what the picture above shows! I got mine for $10.35 plus $0.50 shipping! Can't beat that! Beats those fancy ones that do the same thing for TRIPLE the price! It looks like the one Ghost Hunters use on their show but its bigger and bulker, but its still small! The pop out handle on the back is awesome because you can set the EMF detector down on the floor or table and its propped up at an angle so you can see it. BTW, ITS NOT A RADIATION detector! Its a EMF DETECTOR! It will not read radiation, just electromagnetic field readings! Perfect for ghost hunting! It does have a speaker in it and when the reading goes BELOW 200, the red LED blinks and beeps really fast and when the reading goes ABOVE 200, the red LED blinks and beeps SLOWLY. The beeping is NOT annoying, its actually quiet. Comes with 9V battery, which is cool, and a owners manual that is both in Chinese (Or Japanese, whichever) and also in ENGLISH. But this item is so simple to use, you basically can use it right outta the box. Just pop the 9V battery in, push Power, wait for the "power on test" to complete and have at it! The Data Hold button is cool but pointless in the ghost hunting field. The reading numbers are 3-4 digits. It is all in whole numbers (like 1234) and not like the ones on the other digital EMF detectors (like 123.4) Just remember to add the ".Read more ›
