I don't usually write reviews of my purchases but this time I am more than just a little bit motivated because I'm angry. I have never purchased a game through downloading before but I expected to just download it to my computer and have it run as though it came originally installed on my computer. I downloaded it at work so I could play it while I ate lunch.
There was no indication when I purchased it (unless I missed it in all of the fine print) that I was actually purchasing the game through a third party supplier called Origin. Once the game was downloaded to my computer, I found that I had to create an account with Origin. I found that I could not create the Origin account because my company's firewall prevented it so, no installation at work.
Next I downloaded it to my home computer and once again I had to create an Origin account which I now accomplished. Now that all of this was finished, I attempted to install the game and the Origin panel came up asking me to log in. After logging in, another panel came up instructing me to install the game through Origin. FAIL! I have repeatedly tried to install this game which can only be accomplished through Origin and each and every time it failed giving me some obscure error code.
For the very same price, I went over to Staples and bought the program. Now I can install it and play it wherever and whenever I wish.

DO NOT BUY THIS PROGRAM THROUGH ELECTRONIC ARTS (ORIGIN) as a third party vendor. I agree with everything Buyer Beware said. The exact same thing happened to me. Electronic Arts apparently has this Beta Origin interface (and it's definitely beta, because it doesn't work flawlessly yet) it FORCES you to go through. You are forced to sign up to an on-line gaming interface (Origin) before it will let you even attempt to try to install the program, whether you intend to play with others on line or not. Once finished with this ordeal, you try to install it and you get the "Fail" message. The Electronic Arts "help" desk is a joke; no help at all. Buying directly from the Bejewed 3 programming compamy (Popcap) may help you avoid the dreaded ORIGIN interface. ORIGIN may eventually work OK if you're into on-line gaming. But there should be a way to opt out of ORIGIN if you have no intention of playing on-line with other players.
PS I downloaded the game again (1.2 gigabytes, 1.5 hours on a 6 mbs broadband connection). Initially, got the same results. But re-booted the computer because of some Windows updates, logged in to the MANDATORY on-line gaming interface ORIGIN, and was finally able to complete the installation. I still have to log in to ORIGIN before I can play the game, however. What a bunch of crap!! to put up with just to play a game. I suspect ORIGIN is a marketing tool intended to display marketing data for other games to the user while logged in to ORIGIN. After all, they have a captive audience.

I wish I had read the reviews before purchase. Origin makes you log in every time you play the game. I'm not at all interested in playing games online and this forces me to. I also could not get it to work right in my wife's computer. I will be installing the boxed version in both computers tomorrow and hope it works better. I guess it wasn't a total waste of money, at least I learned to read the reviews before making a purchase.

To purchase, download, and install games is a very flawed process. The installer program failed to install ITSELF properly, when after downloading itself it failed to rename the downloaded file to an executable so that it could run. The installer program had to be manually renamed to an exe file so that it would run. At no time was I informed of what had to be done or the steps involved in doing it. I was required to burn a DVD of the game, but was never told that I would have to do so or which files were to be burned to DVD. How in God's name would an "ordinary" user manage this process? Answer: they WON'T. This process also failed to register my game in my game library! What a miserable disaster. These folks need some new developers and testers. Piss poor.

Obviously I am new at buying games. For starters why would I buy a game for $20 when I can get it for $3? I couldn't get it to download, so I asked my sons about it. A few weeks later they were both over and they could not believe I payed that much, and what you have to do to play this game. It took over 45 minutes of downloading, you can't just download it once but it takes 4 different downloads. And then you can't just pull it up and play, you have to log in and use a password every time you want to play. When they realized that they didn't even finish getting it to where it could be played. They said to get my money back. So I am going to do that!

This is the most useless software you can buy. The download is immense. 1.3 Gig for a game! After downloading you have to set up an Origin account which is not described as a mandatory requirement. Multiple bad issues with this, won't install, huge and useless. Can't escape Origin after you sign up. Definitely last purchase made from AMAZON for downloaded software of any type. BUYER BEWARE!! Get a hard copy at your local store and enjoy the game. This download is true junk!!

DO NOT BUY. I have downloaded several games/programs from Amazon this is the first time I have been disappointed. First they demand your email address (which of course they aren't going to sell to as many crooks as possible.) THEN IT STILL DOESN'T WORK!!! WORST PRODUCT EVER.

The business model that "Origin" has created has almost ruined this for players who long have enjoyed various PopCap games, me being one. I bought a new computer and had run out of licenses for Bejeweled 3. So I purchased this off of Amazon. The download was agonizingly slow only made worse by the bizarre requirement to have to establish an "Origin" account to install and play the game I just BOUGHT. And the account establishment forced me to download and install another application tied to "Origin" that has actually gotten in the way of Windows 8.1 shutting down on several occasions. The game itself is the same. But the rest of this online gaming business model crap is a mess. I suspect I'll never buy anything again from "Origin". Amazon is taking hits for this but it's Origin that has botched it.

p.s. After writing this review and subsequently putting up with the Origin application interceding every time I went to play BJ3, I went to eBay and found sellers of older boxed versions of BJ3. I bought one of those, uninstalled the Origin version and installed BJ3 from the boxed CD. Good to go. I may be old fashioned but I do not like extraneous, unwanted applications looking over my shoulder each time I play a simple game. Hope this helps.

I did not read some of the other reviews before i bought this game. While the game itself is fun... the fact that you have to 'subscribe' to Origins to play it is very very bad business. I just want to play the game - so now I have Origin running in the background just to play a game I purchased. I will never buy from them - or any other vendor - that does this - ever again. If i would have read some of the previous comments first - I would not have purchased it this time... learned my lesson...

I have tried to install this product but, it keeps asking for a disc to complete the install. Since I purchased a download I do not have a disk. I also did not want this "Origin" program as I do not do online gaming. I have uninstalled this product and will NEVER buy games from Amazon again.
