5.0 out of 5 stars A surprisingly solid shooter for your Fire! January 6, 2012
Verified Purchase
Important note: Dead Space is for mature audiences. Expect jump-scares, hallucinations, gruesome enemies, gore, and...well, cutting off the limbs of said enemies.

The game follows Vandal, a separate character from the main Dead Space games on consoles. He's an engineer who is sent in to make some simple repairs. The scenario quickly escalates after the repairs are complete when he discovers he has been essentially left for dead to an invasion of necromorphs: gruesome, mutated, zombie-looking monstrosities that are endlessly hungry for humans. The game is about Vandal's struggle to escape the necromorphs while battling his own sanity.

I was both surprised and impressed by just how easy it was to play. The left thumb handles movement (basically forward if it's on top of the screen, backward if it's on the bottom) while the right thumb handles the aiming of weapons and abilities (slide right to aim right, left to aim left, etc, tap to fire). The game is fully rendered in 3D and runs smooth like butter. Occasionally, it can be unresponsive with taps to pick up items or open doors, but I've never felt the controls have hindered me in keeping my character alive. Battles are all about stopping necromorphs from ripping you apart by ripping them apart first. The only effective way to kill a necromorph is to shoot (or cut, depending on your weapon) its limbs off piece by piece until it's dead. Anyone familiar with Dead Space or Resident Evil will feel right at home. The dismemberment mechanic adds real intensity to fights by forcing you to aim carefully but quickly as danger approaches.

For me, this game felt like an absolute steal on sale at $0.99, but I would be just as satisfied paying the full $6.99 for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love The Graphics! December 14, 2011

The graphics on the Kindle Fire are fantastic! After bumping into the walls a few times, I actually managed to go through a door without needing to call for assistance or look for a cheat sheet. :D Having never played an RPG (non-lite version) on anything other than a Super NES (Zelda) or pc (Wizard 101), it took me relatively little time to figure out how to maneuver my character on the touch screen. Trying to learn to shoot at something other than my foot or a locked door when I was supposed to be shooting a control panel had me laughing (yes, I do find things like that add value to a game), but eventually I progressed to hitting intended targets.

The voices and sounds are amazingly clear - so clear, in fact, I almost answered when my 'contact' first spoke (smile!). I didn't realize there was a map until I'd gone through a few rooms, but once I accessed it, it definitely made it easier to figure out where to go.

The only real problems I have with the game is that some of the targets are positioned in such an awkward way that I was getting a teensy bit motion sick from two-stepping my character into position (game players fault, not the games), and wishing I could tap away the green outline of the device that was showing me to tilt.

I can tell a lot of effort and love went into making this game. Its visually stunning on the Fire and well worth the money to invest in. This is how games should be done. Now if EA would just publish a Medieval RPG for the Fire with some roses thrown in, I'd be one very happy Lady!

5.0 out of 5 stars Epic game for kindle and dead space lovers! March 11, 2012
Verified Purchase
the graphics are amazing! the sound may be low but it is very high qualitiy. as well as the graphics and gameplay! everything is good. great storyline as well. it may take one or two taps to activate something. but you really just have to tap it at the right angle and spot. the controlls are easy to master after a while as well. dont know how to save yet though. i really dont know why it was so cheap for such a great game! yes the consol dead space is better, but if your on a road trip and your not the one driving, or just when you dont want to play a consol,or going to play it in the bed before going to sleep. so this game is awesome. 5/5 stars for sure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gameplay and Awesome Graphics!!! December 25, 2011

After I went through the somewhat tedious process of downloading it, I had absolutely no regrets of buying this app. Definately worth seven bucks!!! Not only does it have great, immersive gameplay, but it also has some of the best graphics I've ever seen on an Android device. Another thing I love about it is that you can create multiple games at one time, just like the console version!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing March 20, 2013

Probably one of the best apps out there on the android market. Realistic lighting affects, great 3D graphics, and great audio. It has really good gameplay, and how very few cons and tons of pros. There are only 2 issues I have with this app. The first is that when sometimes launching the app, towing start, so I have to restart it. And I hope EA reads these, because unlike the iPhone, iPod, and everything else has an awesome update. There is the nightmare mode, and being a fan of the game, would love to have that. Also, there is not the survival mode, which would male the game played more if campaign was getting boring. Finally, the game doesn't' have the Heavy Pulse Rifle, a weapon I would very much like to see. Now, enough with the baddies. Good: like I said, graphics, audio, lighting. There are also good scares (especially at the beginning). This game also plays into the second dead space, so if you played it, You might know some spoilers.
Anyway, I hope this helps. Please, please update the app. Still really good though.

The game has bugs and doesn't work right. I assume they removed it to fix it. I installed it and played it once, now it won't open. Hope they fix it.
