5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully playful, November 25, 2004
By
These 2 Swedish brothers join the growing ranks of artists and DJs who produce soulful electroorganic music that sounds every bit as human and uncontrived as the traditional variety. This album is beautiful and ranges from deep soulful house to R&B, with unique trademark splashes here and there (listen to the cute electronic gremlin voices at the end of "A Jabo Thought"). It's all melodic and non-abrasive. Buy it without a second thought!

5.0 out of 5 stars Adult Lounge Disco, May 27, 2004

Essential for all mature DJ's. Trust me. I spin at least 6 of these tracks on a regular basis--it never fails to turn heads and motivate hips. Beautiful and deep sometimes, social and smooth all the time. Track 2 hurts other producers feelings because it's so damn good. . . Buy now, Buy now, Buy now. Forget about how much it costs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dear Plej, MAKE MORE MUSIC NOW!!!!!!!!!!! I implore you!, January 24, 2007

It's the very first cut.....Lay of the Land. You here it and say to yourself, "nice soft weaving synth, persistent head boppable beat and bass line." Then it gets flat for a second. At 1:35 seconds into this song, Plej opens up on you. Opens your eyes to great electronic music.

This is effortlessly deep, soulful, electronic music. And yet, the songs are as different from one another as can be. You have to distinguish this album from others in that Plej finds success with a broad brush. They lay down a solid variation on their sound. And it works wonders for your head.

It's a truly magnificent effort. These guys are genre leading professionals.

A note about the album itself is that Plej decided to throw a whole other disc in the setup full of remixes of cuts on the OG album. And that disc on its own is remarkable.

Highly recommend both this and Clouds' effort. You can tell they come from the same side of the street. Both groups lay it down.

Hope it helped and happy listening. Cheers.

5.0 out of 5 stars BBC radio's #1 Dance album of 2003, January 27, 2004
By
I was skeptical at first, but after 20 seconds of the first track, I was jumping on my bed and rockin' it by myself in my boyfriend's apartment. It's pretty chill as dance albums go, and some of the tracks are very electronic, but all in all the beats are nice and it's interesting. I mean, it's got to count for something that this was BBC's #1 dance album of the year. Track #4 sounds like the Avalanches, "Since I left you" but it actually has totally different meaning. Thumbs up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Electronic Music!, April 5, 2004
By A Customer
Plej are definitely one of the best electronic music producing duo to ever swing by... Their new album will make you move involuntary to the hypnotic, chilled sexy sounds. My personal favorites are Evum, Seasons and Lay of the Land. Very highly recommended!

It is pure, it is deep and makes you fly high! Don't listen to Plej as you were listening to one of these thousand flat lounge compilations but loud with good bass sound!...And something will happen to your soul. Blue reste ma préférée. Thank you Scandinavia and Germany for your intelligent electro sound.

i can't believe how good this cd is. it slipped under my radar for 2003, mainly because it slipped under some friends who recommend me a lot of music. this is very very sexy music. you can hear some poor-quality samples on his website (just search good for plej) and also see a video.

i highly recommend these guys.. it makes me want to dance and make love at the same time

5.0 out of 5 stars Take me to the Left Coast!, February 3, 2004
By
Songs from the Swedish left Coast exists as an album very much on the chilled side of dance. Fans of Royksopp; Zero 7; Groove Armada etc. will undoubtedly draw some comparison to Plej and yet this album manages to stand out from a plethora of electronic music by straddling a number of different musical styles, and refraining from the repetitive nature that commonly mars this genre. Whilst it may be argued that the content is not consistently strong throughout the album, there is more than enough appeal to warrant five stars. Buy It!
