4.0 out of 5 stars The CD Singles Are Better, June 10, 2005

Nitram "Weirdo" (Anywhere but on the surface) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Electronic Pleasure (Audio CD)
Really 3.51 stars. This album is all over the place. It's hard to figure out who N-Trance is with the endless rotation of vocalists and eclectic mix of styles on this album. The best tracks are over the top, but there's a lot of B-side quality stuff here - they definitely did not have enough material for an album. You expect more energy from 130-135 BPM tracks. Buy the CD Singles of Set You Free and the Stayin' Alive cover if you need a couple of new dance tracks in your rotation. The mixes on the Set You Free single are excellent, but the long version on this album is even better - maybe even worth the entire purchase. The haunting "Softly" is very good, albeit depressing.

INTRO - What Is Your Pleasure? - 1 star filler

134 BPM - Electronic Pleasure - 3 stars (this is the title track?)

107 BPM - Stayin' Alive - 5 stars

132 BPM - I Will Take You There - 4 stars (that's 1)

132 BPM - (Just) Let It Go - 3 stars (that's 2)

70/140 BPM - Set You Free - 5 stars (10 stars if it existed)

82 BPM - Softly (Dragging Me Down) - 5 stars

132 BPM - Do You Wanna Rock? - 3 stars (that's 3)

105 BPM - Gimme 1 2 3 4 5 - 2 stars (only because I like 16-beat bounce, 0 stars for the vocals)

132 BPM - Turn Up The Power - 4 stars (and, yes, that's 4 tracks at 132 BPM - I'm begging you, please change the tempo)

76 BPM - I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love... Again - 5 stars (sentimental favorite - she's long gone, the song remains)

110 BPM - That's All We Need - 3 stars (We Are The World fed starving children - what did this do?)

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Rap/Dance CD, August 30, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Electronic Pleasure (Audio CD)
Probably the most popular song on "Electronic Pleasure" would have to be the Bee Gees-looping rap of "Stayin' Alive". I remember this track mainly from the 1995 sci-fi thriller "Virtuosity", but I wouldn't list this song under one of my favorites. In my opinion, the original Bee Gees version was better than this one.

My two favorite tracks on "Electronic Pleasure" would have to be #6 ("Set You Free")-- the longest song on here (just over 7 minutes); it starts out slow with piano and background thunderstorm/rain, then eventually speeds up-- and #7 ("Softly (Dragging Me Down)"), a slow, ocean-themed song.

Almost all of the tracks on here are fast (except for tracks #7 and 11) and about half of them include rapping. So, if you like dance and rap, then you'll probably like this CD. There are also lyrics for every song, even for the short spoken-word intro, "What's Your Pleasure?" Worth a listen if you're an N-Trance fan.
