Product Description

Relay Buddy is a quick go/no-go tester for the most common automotive relays. It provides you with an indication of the general health and functioning of the relay switch contacts and coil. Relay Buddy will check the control side of the relay by applying a signal to the relay coil while it checks for proper functioning of the relay contacts. Relay buddy operates the relay several times during each test session as it watches for consistency in every cycle. Relay buddy will fail the relay and light the red LED if any one of the cycles proves unsuccessful during the test session.

I ordered this to check the relays on my 25 year old european car. It is easy to use and works great. I tested it by putting in known good and known bad relays, and it give the correct reading every time. I went ahead and checked the relays in my car; found a couple that were bad and replaced them.
I would recommend this product.

If you are an avid DIYer of working on your own vehicle, and have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of electricity, then get this instrument. The traditional way of testing relays is NOT as complete as the checking procedure that this tool can do!

It connects to your vehicle's battery.

The ideal thing is goes through 10 different testing procedures for the relay you are testing
It has 3 different sockets to receive MOST relays. It does NOT except ALL relays though. BUT......

........................I was able to test EVERY Relay on my 2000 Chevy, ..............except 1

It is so much easier to use than the old testing and way more thorough!

I have been guessing if a relay is bad or not and using this tester brings out the guessing with a red light for bad and a green light for good. You just plug the relay into the tester and hook it up to a twelve volt power source and if the relay is bad it shows red right away. If the tester is good it goes through a sequence of ten sets of testing and gives a green light.

I do auto wiring as a hobby, this relay tester really works on the most used auto relays today. Fast and easy, I saved over $600 by just replacing a smog pump relay. The dealer wanted over $600 dollars to repair the problem on our SUV.

ordered the fuse buddy, thought it was a good thing to have, when I finally needed it it showed that my relays where bad, spent a lot of money for new ones, put the new one in the unit and it howed that they also where bad. money down the drain.

The unit is a good way to consistently and reliably check common relays for pass/fail condition. I did notice that unless the relay pins were extremely straight on the larger relays, it was difficult to insert the relays into the tester. My only other concern is how well the sockets will hold up over time in a typical shop environment, as the connections to the circuit board seem a little skimpy in my opinion. However, the unit does contain a microcontroller and actually tests the contacts on each relay operation cycle. The way I see it, if the unit saves someone an hour of troubleshooting time or wasting money on replacing good parts, it will have paid for itself.

This tool takes the guess work out of play, I myself have been in the automotive field for over 36 years and while doing electrical work all extra parts end up in a drawer until the next time and it is easy to mix up good parts with bad parts and this is another reason this product works, I very highly recommend . Great tool...
