5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I read this book not necessarily to understand electronics but for a solid understanding of basic math. From this grounding in basic math I feel I can move on to any of the higher maths if I choose to do so. As an adult going into a career (auto technician) in which math was required I found this the only book to be of any substantial help.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too many mathematican errors in answers supplied.
This edition and the test writer which is available have too many mathematical errors. These are not misprints. Hopefully, the 6th edition will have these corrected. (I am a math instructor currently using this book)

This review is from: Electronics Math (Hardcover)
This is actually an excellent book that is a little older, but has math changed that much? Not really, once math, always math! My ONLY minor complaint is that I actually found one mistake in the book. It was more of a mistake in verbiage than in a calculation but it always sticks in your mind that "are there other mistakes?" So far I haven't found any but then again, would I know?

Otherwise, the book is laid out excellent, and has many practice problems to beat the stuff into your head. It covers everything from basic math, to problems involving Algebra, Trig and Computer Science. All of which relate in some way to electronics. Most of all, what I like is that the math it teaches you, it also incorporates into practical electrical applications in which you can see the math in action.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book except for errors in answers, May 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Electronics Math (Hardcover)
My earlier review was critical of errors in answers given for end of chapter questions and for test questions in the supplemental test writer. The book in general is good. Examples shown are better than average and the subject matter is good. My earlier review was written soon after I had been nailed by my students for having no correct answer in a multiple choice quiz question taken from Prentice Hall Custon Test 3.2. It was the only question I hadn't worked out to check the answer. Shame on me.

2.0 out of 5 stars TOO MUCH COVERED IN TOO LITTLE BIT OF SPACE, September 15, 2000
By A Customer
The textbook quickly covers the information in a very confusing manner so it's very hard to understand their concepts. This textbook tries to cover too much information with the amount of pages it has. For example, in Chapter 1, the lessons cover the explanation of the Decimal Number System; Fractions, Whole Numbers, Mixed Numbers, Rounding numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, mathematical expressions and terms and also the signs of grouping. This is basically covering basic 2nd grade math all the way to basic Algebra, and they only used 20 pages to cover that amount of material which includes your homework problems as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Elementary Math, January 29, 2002
By A Customer
I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who has finished with middle school math. With the exception of the brief area on other (binary) counting systems, there's very little that is of any real relevance to electronics... i.e. Fourier and Laplace transformations, differential equations and the like. I'm glad that I got this book on loan and didn't actually purchase it. If I had, I would really have learned the consequences of judging a book by its cover.
