U.S Groups Steal From Taxiride,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Electrophobia (Audio CD)
I have followed Taxiride since I saw the videa "Get Set" from the vote for me high school movie. This was around the time JFK JR. died from a plane crash back when. I identify the video with that but not this group. Taxiride are very original that has had their licks and lyrics mobbed by groups like My Chemical Romance, Bullet For My Valentine, and even Green Day. They are very original and they are from down under. Like ACDC and even Peter Frampton, American groups think it's o.k to borrow from down under because they are further from the USA they can get. But no one can copy their vocals laid out like early Beach Boys. Their melody is better than anything happening in the USA since the early nineties but many try to emulate. What Taxiride has over our own is the knack to sing about love and feel like the mean it.Their live release shows harmonies driven with guitars and a layer of synth sounds that our kids lack. Can you Fell, Get Set, and Oh Yeah are energetic and bring a force that the studio versions lack. They actually sound better and they don't go through the motions. I think they got a bum rap in the States but down under, they are the best thing since Lifehouse, The Goo Dolls, and My Chemical Romance has tried to do from the beginning. Taxiride is very sincere about rock and melodies working together.

Taxiride - the acoustic set,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Electrophobia (Audio CD)
Taxiride are without doubt my favourite Australian band. I only discovered this album recently while checking out their somewhat defunct website. It's a collection of some of their more popular songs done acoustically, and it sounds great. If you like Taxiride and their tight vocal harmonies and guitar-backed pop sound, this is a great album.
