The second edition now includes an overview and instructions for the latest developed methods of DNA typing as well as a new instruction for vertical techniques.

From reviews of the first edition:

... The book is a nice handbook and textbook on classical electrophoresis for a wide range of chemists covering newcomers, practitioners, scientists and experts. The text of the book is clearly written and well organized, where, by reading several related pages one can gasp a principle and a method never touched before, and, by following the step-by-step description one can practice a procedure never done before. The text is well illustrated with self-explaining figures, and, parallel to the main text, the margins give important references and excellent glossaries. ...
Journal of Chromatography

... This book has been devoted to give the best overview possible of the most modern and useful techniques in this field, valuable not only for beginners but also for experienced scientists. ...
Cellular and Molecular Biology

... As a comprehensive guide to the huge variety of electrophoretic methods now available, this is very good value. ... The superb 35-page troubleshooting appendix almost justifies the price on ist own....

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent hands-on book for Electrophoresis, April 13, 2000
This review is from: Electrophoresis in Practice: A Guide to Methods and Applications of DNA and Protein Separations (Hardcover)
This second edition has a wonderful overview of the use of electrophoresis of proteins and nucleic acids. Thoughtful reviews of all of the components: theory, gel compositions, instrumentation, interpretations, and trouble shooting are truly ideal for the practioner. The book is well written and provides a wonderful bibliography. The text of the book is well written and well organized. The table of contents and the index can get a practioner up to speed with clear procedure quickly. The figures are extremely helpful. This should be an excellent lab resource
