From Library Journal
Elegance consists of 32 essays on men's clothing, some of which appeared previously in Town & Country or in Diversion. Boyer emphasizes quality, natural fabrics, and classic styling. Although he includes practical suggestions for buying and caring for apparel, he also devotes considerable attention to the historical development of men's attire. Numerous anecdotes and Kokinos's striking illustrations round out the book. Donald Dolce's The Consumer's Guide to Menswear ( LJ 9/1/83) also focuses on quality in men's clothing. Of the two books, Dolce's is the more practical, Boyer's the more literary and historical. Suitable for fashion history and consumer collections. Wendy Allex, Central Arkansas Lib.
