Book Description

Elegant and Easy April 11, 2000
The perfect bedroom is more than just a place to sleep, it's a haven for reading, relaxing, or even working at a desk or laptop. Above all, it's a sanctuary--a room that should replenish and restore, and ELEGANT AND EASY BEDROOMS will help readers create a personal oasis, whatever their budget. Ideas within include how to give inexpensive sheer curtains an elegant upgrade; how designer-tested colors can make a cramped bedroom feel airy and open; and bright new ideas for "catching" and maximizing sunlight.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Landis, contributing editor to Metropolitan Home, expands on her previous book, Elegant and Easy Rooms (LJ 1/98), dividing its information into separate books and giving more tips she has assembled from interior designers over the years. While in her previous book she gave unaccredited tips, here she identifies the designers and even mentions specific products, such as which Benjamin Moore color a designer recommends for hallways, making the information even more helpful to amateur decorators. In each book, she discusses furniture, windows, ceilings, and walls, concluding with a list of resources for home furnishings, paint, and accessories. An excellent purchase for public libraries.

5.0 out of 5 stars An elegant and easy little book!, November 7, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Elegant and Easy Bedrooms: 100 Trade Secrets for Designing with Style (Paperback)
If you are like me, you need specific ideas on how to decorate your home. This book is packed with ideas that you can quickly apply to your bedroom. Much of the information is also helpful in decorating other areas of your house, such as the tips on paint color selection. The author even gives specific paint brands and numbers, with descriptions of their exact hues. There is a good variety of styles and tastes represented, along with information on how to order some of the decorating supplies suggested. Especially welcome is the section on store and catalog recommendations at the end of the book. The nicest thing about this book is its small size! You will be able to read it in one or two sittings and begin decorating immediately. Overall a nice little book with lots of helpful hints.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good ideas but small on illustration, September 17, 2003

This review is from: Elegant and Easy Bedrooms: 100 Trade Secrets for Designing with Style (Paperback)
This book would have been a show stopper if it had been illustrated with every idea the author put forward. There are some good ideas that I was able to utilize, but as the other reviewers have noted, it's hard to get too excited about a line drawing and a list of colors.

1.0 out of 5 stars Elegant and Easy: Anything But, January 20, 2003

With the title "Elegant and Easy," I figured this would be a very beneficial book to read, since I am building a new home and want a fresh, dramatic look. I was mistaken. They give color numbers, but no idea of what the color actually looks like; the designs are plain sketches without suggestions of substitution. I would have liked to have seen color photos of actual bedroom designs.
I was very disappointed with this book.
