All three of Clarelynn Rose's albums are in frequent rotation for me both at home and in the car. Her music stands out because, though it could be considered in the "new age" genre and is quite relaxing, it has the musically important elements of form, forward motion, and strong melody that make this music accessible. Much of the music in this style tends toward more of a "textural" format, rather than music that has melody you can hum along to, like a song and structure that makes sense to the listener. There is certainly a time and place for that style of playing and I enjoy it as much as the next person, but I personally prefer the music of Clarelynn Rose because it has the musically important elements that pull it all together, making it accessible even for those who would otherwise not really be interested in this style of music.

A good example for comparison would be comparing the solo piano music of David Lanz to some of the "new age" players whose music might be more textural in nature. With David's background playing in "bar bands", he firmly grasps song structure and melody, and that comes through clearly in his music which features those important musical elements that make for accessible listening. Clarelynn Rose has that same command of song form for solo guitar, making her music very accessible without losing any of the qualities that draw us to this style in general. Her music is relaxing, yet it has a depth and a flow to it that captures the listener's interest, bringing the listener back for repeated listening. You won't grow tired of Clarelynn Rose's music. This music has been on my CD player almost constantly since I purchased it more than a year ago. This music is special.

This second CD produced by Clarelynn is her best yet. She is really developing her ability to compose and perform music. This CD is our favorite and we listen to it frequently. The quality of the recording is superb. Suitable for many places that want calming background music like a restaurant, book store, etc. It is also nice to listen to when you're driving to take your mind off the road. Well done and we cant' wait for CD #3!!
