These guys morphed into the Legion of the Damned. This is the same disk as Feel the Blade. Still a killer disc whichever band name is on the cover. Blackened thrash metal at its finest. double fists in the air for this

what the previous reviewer said is all true. one of the best ever "blackish" thrash. What he did not know or does not is that this is the identical disc put out by Legion of the Damned titled Feel the blade. I should know as I bought both not realizing. the members of the Occult reformed into Legion of the damned. (Legion re-released and labeled it Feel the blade. Normally, this would upset me but Legion is so fantastic, i would pay triple for their discs.)
Anyway, if you bought this Occult, do not buy Legion "feel the blade". Do buy the other Legion discs as they are even better.

This is, without a doubt, the BEST blackened thrash I have EVER heard. Anyone who has read my reviews knows 1. my choice of music and 2. that I frequent used cd stores. I found this one sitting in the misc. "O" bin, and the name and song titles sounded like metal, so I picked it up. This is the BEST $3.99 I have ever spent in my life, and unlike McDonald's it doesn't give me gas afterwards!
The music on here is like Kreator on speed. The music is tight, fast, ripping and the production is SOLID. I highly recommend to anyone who buys this to listen to it in a GOOD car stereo system, you won't be disappointed. The double bass hits just the right subwoofer sound. The vocals are along the black metal edge...raspy, harsh, scratchy, etc. They almost remind me of Mortuus (Marduk) with a slightly higher pitched tone. There are a few guitar leads, although not many, but they deliver. The two BEST songs on this album are "Nocturnal Predator" and "Slaughtering the Pigs". Both songs show the change of tempo, riffing, drumming and vocals that make this album unstoppable. Get it. You won't be upset with it, I wasn't. |
