Combining innovative form with versatile function, this 21-inch gas grill not only adds a vision of modern art to any back deck or patio, but it also cooks up great-tasting food--no charcoal required. The unit features a 24,000-BTU dual-zone burner with two elements: the outer ring (zone 1) provides indirect heat while the inner ring (zone 2) works best for standard grilling. Use zone 1 for indirect heat to bake, barbecue, and roast, or close the roasting lid to utilize zone 2 to smoke or to generate convection heat. Electronic ignition with a single control knob ensures complete control over the temperature and both burners. The unit also provides a swing-out wood prep tray tucked under the cast-iron grill top for setting a glass of red wine; stainless-steel handles for hanging tools and towels; and propane storage underneath with a removable front panel to keep the tank out of sight, but within easy reach. Other highlights include stainless-steel burner tubes, a grate made of cast iron for maximum heat conduction, a temperature gauge on the lid, adjustable vents, a powder-coated steel burner bowl and body with a molded plastic base, and smooth-rolling ABS casters with rubber tread and locks. Optional accessories (sold separately) include a 20-inch pizza-baking stone that fits directly into the grill and a cast-iron griddle flat plate for searing and grilling peppers and onions or shrimp in the shell.

The Element's cast-iron grate masterfully conducts, distributes, and retains heat, making it ideal for searing and grilling. At the same time, the grill's roasting lid with temperature gauge and adjustable vents transforms the Element into a convection-like oven, allowing you to barbecue, slow cook, and even bake. The lid also comes with an inside hook for conveniently storing it on the cart handle.

Patent-Pending Features for Efficient, Consistent, and Convenient Cooking
Patent-pending features like the dual-zone burner system and independent burner-zone control give you complete command over grilling temperature for both direct and indirect cooking, so you can be sure to get the results you want. Just choose the zone that matches your needs.

Zone One (15,000 BTUs) is for indirect cooking, such as roasting and baking; Zone Two (9,000 BTUs) is great for standard direct open-faced grilling. The swing-out wood prep tray keeps bowls and beers close at hand, and the stainless steel handles are ideal for tools and towels--no more going back and forth from the kitchen to the grill.

I've put this grill through the paces and can now share my thoughts. What you should know: Cooking has been a passion of mine for close to 20 years. Things like even, consistent, and powerful heating are major considerations. I am a die hard user of cast iron kitchen equipment for this reason. If you don't care about things like that, this grill is probably overkill.

Positives:
1. It is compact, mobile, and fits easily on a small porch. Probably the primary selling point.
2. It cooks VERY evenly, meaning that you can use the full grill surface and get reliable results
3. It gets hot, especially for a small gas grill.
4. It lights quickly and heats up quickly
5. The dual zone system is flexible, and effective
6. You can slow cook and smoke on it thanks to the dual zone system.
7. The grill looks very nice. I could care less about this, but my wife appreciates it.
8. Cast iron, cast iron, cast iron. Even heating, wonderful grill marks, inherent nonstick, unmatched durability.
9. It is simplicity to use. It does not have a smoker box. It does not have a side burner. It doesn't have an LCD touch screen or a robotic arm that massages you while you grill. It just works. Extremely well.

Negatives:
1. The grill area is limited. If you want tons of grill space, this is not the grill for you. That said, I have often cooked dinner for four on it, including multiple entrees on the grill at the same time.
2. The lid on the grill has a recess in it that means that you can't put very tall things (such as a sauce pot or a full turkey) on the grill. The largest I have been able to fit is a split bone-in turkey breast.
3. The propane door is slightly annoying.

I received this grill with much anticipation having read about its awards. I'm happy to report, it has exceeded my expectations! The design is unique and leaves a lot of room on my patio unlike bulkier grills. Most importantly, however, are the amazing cooking results. Fish comes out with perfectly crisp, not burned, skin and is not dried out at all, just delicious. Meat similarly is easy to grill with a perfectly cooked exterior and a tender interior, making rare to well-done with ease. Also a cool feature is the dual zone cooking; I've used the convection ability to bake sweet potatoes to perfection. Without a doubt, this grill has earned its accolades,it is truly amazing!

Verified Purchase
i purchased this one year ago. i love how it looks. it doesn't work the way it says, the inner ring has less heat than the outer ring, so once i figured that out, i was able to cook with it. i used it last summer, now started using it for a week. it was stored inside over the winter. i bought the cover and everything. the grill has heated less hot gradually. and now, the ignition has stopped working. i've tried cleaning it to no avail. it seemed to work fine when i first got it, kind of a different set of principles from the Weber i had before, but i thought i could work with it and figure it out. what you are paying for is the visual design, not the functionality of the thing.

NOTE: while i was writing the above, the grill was pre-heating--i had lit the burners with a match, carefully replaced the grill top, and covered the unit, heat was on "medium", and came inside to write the review. just after i finished writing (6-7 minutes?) i looked out the window and saw that the grill was in flame--thankfully the lid was on. there was nothing in it except for the burnt-on ash from previous cooking. i had thoroughly cleaned it 2 weeks ago before start of grill season. i ran outside, turned the heat down to low--still flaming. i had to turn off the gas and after a minute or so it stopped. it's so overheated i'm afraid to even touch the plastic handle on the lid. i'll have to wait til tomorrow to look and see if i can figure out what was burning. i did smell plastic. maybe it was the ignition mechanism. who knows. but i spent several hundred dollars on this piece of crap. and all i have is a nicely marinated leg of lamb that i can't grill.

NOTE: i must say that Fuego's customer service has improved.

I was really looking forward to getting this grill. I figured for the high price it must be of some quality. I was surprised how flimsy and unstable it is.
I'll jump right to the most amazing part - It doesn't even work! Not Kidding. The electronic ignition did' even put out a spark. I had to remove the entire grill and heat deflectors to get a match close enough to light it, unless you have 6" matches. On top of that the main burner woun't lite at all, even with a match. I could go on and give it a full review but why bother. Of Course I can't reach anyone at Fuego and the company listed in the brochure for customer service says they didn't manufacture it so its not their problem. Forget the written warranty but this product should not be allowed to be sold to human beings, It literally does not get hot enough to grill food and should not be marketed or sold as grill for food.
I've contacted Living Direct and have been assured that someone will get back to me on Monday.
