5.0 out of 5 stars Zesty and Tempered, Together as One!
I want to say this volume of Elemental Chill is my favorite, but in reality they are all excellent. "Fire" displays an attitude and a slightly more lively quality than the other volumes I currently own (Fire, Earth and Air). All the Elemental discs have their own mood, and for me "Fire" inspires creativity. I have listened to this disc while painting and found the results...

5.0 out of 5 stars Elemental Chill on Fire!, January 15, 2003

The entire 4 volume series rises above the chillout clutter that is out there now. As a fan of the genre I rank the Elemental CDs among my favorites of all time. On the Fire volume my favorite songs are "Quanto Tengo..." - Afrit and "Superspectral" - Tao of Groove.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smoothly Smoldering, November 1, 2007
This review is from: Elemental Chill 1: Fire (Audio CD)
Spicy hot with sassy latin steam, aglow with sparks of psychadelic funk, and streaming the lanky sweat of summer-night tangos, the Fire album in the Elemental Chill series doesn't blaze as much as it smolders.

From the groovy opening bit by Afrit, the disc sets a tantalizing tone, one of tiki torches and red-tongued teasing. Songs like "Magic Single Barrel" keep the mood at a low-key roast, while others like "Love From The Sun" make sure the disc's long, evening shadows flicker enough to be fun. The only song that even partially drags the set down is Intuit's "O Preguicoso," which sounds as if it were recorded while someone's alarm clock was bleeping incessantly in the background.

A nit-pick, considering how ably this album (and even the series as a whole) manages to embody the whole idea of "chillout." As warm and playful as a beach-side romp, anyone who enjoys the kind of dancing you can do on your back would do well to pick up this steamy little number.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Agree!!!, June 1, 2004

Elemental Chill Fire is the best of the 4. ( I have all four CD's in the set.) Great mix and flow of songs, I never tire of this one.
I agree with the other two reviewers.

I'm a big fan of chill out/down tempo, but unfortunately there are far too many low-quality compilations out there. If you've sampled any of the recent releases of this genre lately, you know what I mean. Elemental Chill 1 is definitely an exception. Take it from someone who has discerning taste, this is a great album. I highly recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, But..., March 9, 2011

This is a good selection of tunes, but not as good as Elemental Chill 2. When I say "good", it is - of course - a matter of musical taste.., something forgotten by today's so-called critics. Note: I thought the musical WICKED was awful. Specifically, the NY cast (even the guys sounding like Bell from Beauty and the Beast) couldn't carry a note in a hand basket. Yet the show received great reviews. More than a matter of taste...

If you enjoy contemporary jazz, suggest you select Elemental Chill 2 over Chill 1. And, if you like Broadway musicals rent South Pacific or Oklahoma.

I have had this cd for a few years now and it never gets old. I have listened to it over and over again and it stills relaxes me. I also have earth and it is just as amazing. Because I love these 2 so much I plan on buying air and water as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Groove 'n great, April 18, 2007

I probably have too many compilations and a slew of chill music but this one hangs in there on the rotation because of the Latin influences, I suppose. The music does have the chill out vibe but it has enough umpf to be lazy dance grooves. The mix is interesting, seemless for the most part without much of a transition as if a deejay were playing your own get together or at yopur house. The exotic nature of the disc gives it an edge over the competition. Naomi's "Avenue L'Amour" exemplifies the point with the French language underneath the thumping beatz as the harmonies shine through for a very sensual dance groove. The jazzy nature of the tracks is another selling point with some tracks being completely instrumental. If you like stuff like St. Germain's "Tourist" than you will like these tracks. If you like your mix to have a little samba to liven things up than you got it here. Right in th middle of the disc are a few Brazilianesque songs . "Kalas" gets the sambaesque beat going and then "So Tinha Que Ser Com Voce" fills in the gaps to complete the Rio carnival tour. Later on in the disc the samba beat is revived with "O Preguicoso" by Intuit, complete with driving beatz puntuated by flute. This is a grat soundtrack to play to stimulate creative expressions between people or for self expression in the arts. Recommended for your electronica collection.
