2.0 out of 5 stars Well priced but lacks performance..., December 18, 2007

I'll just break this down into pros and cons to make this easy for myself.

Pros:
Great price. One of the better priced sound deadening mats out there. Plain and simple, Dynamat is just too expensive, it works great, but when a similar product costs well less then half the price for twice as much you really can't go wrong.
It's very flexible and easy to install.
Doesn't need to be heated up.

Cons:
Poor adhesion. I've had to reattach the material in several areas because it has failed to stay adhered to the panel.
Doesn't perform as well as the other products out there. Compared to Dynamat Xtreme, Second Skin's Damplifier, or even Cascade Audio's VB-2 it just doesn't stack up. Didn't see a noticeable reduction in sound or vibrations, I guess it's probably because it's flimsy... which brings me to the next con.
Flimsy. This makes it easy to install, but it also compromises the durability of it. If you have this installed in your trunk and set something the least bit heavy in there it WILL tear right through the silver plastic film.

What little bit I used on the car has since been removed and replaced with one of the other above products.

So don't expect a huge difference in the overall reduction in sound or vibrations. And personally I would highly recommend looking at the other products that are available.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works but like similar products you need to use it correctly, August 30, 2007

I installed 100 square feet of this in my pontiac Sunfire convertible a few weeks ago. Stripped out the whole interior down to the sheet metal and did the entire passenger compartment floor and sides, doors, and trunk.

The result? A definite reduction in road noise with subsequent improvement in the sound of my audio system. Well worth the price for the eDead of $107 shipped

I'm sure if I'd put in a second layer and/or really gone crazy and removed the entire dash (to access to the upper firewall) the noise reduction would have even been better.

As far as application, it's as easy as the manufacturer claims. This stuff sticks to just about anything, and likewise you can use adhesives to attach materials (such as carpet) to it. One additional note - think "upholstery" when using this, e.g. car interiors are full of compound surfaces, so to make the material go as far as possible (in terms of coverage) you will be doing a lot of trimming and fitting (applying it in strips is generally better than using the whole 12" width).

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, July 26, 2010

I originally ordered this to wrap up an aux room air conditioner that was getting noisy, and the price seemed more suited to a job like that then dynamat. It went on easy and sticks like crazy on a clean surface and made a huge impact in how noisy the A/C was and completely eliminated it's low frequency drone. It's effective enough for it's thickness that I can see using it to line the interior panels of anything that is noisy to gain some relief. I've been thinking about sticking it in my PC case since as long as I don't disrupt airflow there shouldn't be a heating problem.

After seeing the results I went ahead and covered the trunk firewall of my 550hp 70 Chevelle and it helped with some of the exhaust drone with out a huge penalty in weight which would be unacceptable to me.

I haven't used it in a traditional car audio application yet, but based on my past experience I think it'd be a decent performer for people who aren't going all out and are willing to cover as much of their interior panels as possible since it'd be economical to do so. It's also seems it'd be a good choice for anyone wanting a decent sound system and some noise relief but are also drawing a line on weight since they really don't want to weigh down a fast car(lots of dynamat) for their stereo system / comfort. At the same time I wouldn't tear into the average 2010 car's interior just to add this product because it'd be a lot of work for the gain since newer vehicles tend to be quieter to begin with, in those cases it'd just be a quick cheap fix to stop a trunk panel, ect.. from buzzing because of some big subs.
