5.0 out of 5 stars Learn Algebra the Easy Way
This is an excellent book to learn the basics of Algebra even if you are not a student. It explains everything and it includes a CD ROM with additional resources and exercises.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent book, Better CD-ROM
I found this book on my school's web site for $142, but bought it from Amazon for $97. Shipping was fast and free, the way I like it.
The book does a decent job of explaining the principles and definitions you need to perform algebra, but it's somewhat boring. (Of course, IT IS an algebra textbook)

I found this book on my school's web site for $142, but bought it from Amazon for $97. Shipping was fast and free, the way I like it.
The book does a decent job of explaining the principles and definitions you need to perform algebra, but it's somewhat boring. (Of course, IT IS an algebra textbook)
I'm attending classes at an online college right now and the facilitator I had for this class was horrible, so I relied heavily on the textbook. There are some good worksheets in the book that you can do for practice and then check your answers in the back of the book.
The best part of this package is the CD-ROM that comes with the book. If you have a visual learning style or just want to see things explained with examples, the CD-ROM has several video exaples for each section of the book. It also has worksheets and evaluations that you can use to chart your progress and practice on your own.
I don't think the book is worth anywhere near $142 or even $97, but it was required for my course. The good news is that now that the class is just about over I can use the book as a paperweight or as a sedative.
I can't really complain though, since this was all I had to rely on for this entire class as far as instruction and guidance goes.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'ts a good math book, the examples could be better., March 22, 2010

Hello , I just wanted to say that this text book was requirement for my class. The book was decent and covered all that it needed to but some of the examples in Ch6-7 are like a shot in the dark, somne of the steps are not explained, which leads us to making our own assumptions-not good.

3.0 out of 5 stars A math book you need but probably wish you didn't, May 1, 2010

This book does what it is supposed to: it teaches you college algebra. Even if you don't want to learn it. If you're a math major, you'll say, "Yay!" If you are an art major, you'll say, "If I HAVE to." Either way it's a good book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Heads up to college students, September 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I recently purchased my algebra book online through Amazon and was quite surprised to recieve it and find that it is an instructors edition. It was originally a $245 book that I bought for $165. The description said it had tape on the cover otherwise like new. This was true, the book has never been written in or damaged in any way.
My teacher immediately knew it was an instructors edition because of the tape covering up large letters that say NOT FOR RESALE. I now am in class and do not have time to order books online and must go purchase another book for $245. It is illegal to have an instructors edition and any administrator on campus may take it from me not to mention the ethical dilema or the fact that I am paying good $ for college and would like to actually learn the subject.
Beware textbook buyers of "tape on the cover".

This book was advertised as used, but it appears to be in brand new condition. Doesn't even look like it's been opened. I am very pleased with the purchase. Very fast shipping also. It appears the book will be an excellent refresher course for me so I can jump into the next level of Algebra.

The product is great and the CD that came with it is unopened as promised. Although I'm happy with the product, I'm not happy with the fact that I paid for 2-day shipping on a Saturday and didn't receive the book until Thursday. Probably won't be using that anymore...
