Examples are cluttered, confusing, and book is not very organized. Book could use more simple examples similar to homework problems. More in-depth explanation of ideas.

This comprehensive work include such topics as determinate and indeterminate structures, trusses, beams, matrices, rigid frames, and much more.

I too wish that this book would break subjects down into smaller sub-topics, and provide more worked examples to illustrate each concept.

As a structural engineer, I have read many books on subjects like this one. I learned structural theory in 1970's from this book and others. This was best of the lot at that time. Hsieh's book is quite clear and straight forward.

Before computers, we were expected to know how to analyze frames using the classic methods, like moment distribution and the unit load method. This book has good examples of these methods, as well as other useful techniques like the conjugate beam method.

Someone has "borrowed" my copy, and I need a new one!
