4.0 out of 5 stars A good size nice nativity set!
I would give this five stars if it was not for the ground glass feel of the figures, this was an instant turn off but I used my Eureka and a brush to clean them up.
My figures, at least the ones I opened, arrived in good shape none broken and the backdrop was also in good shape, my little one dropped the angel off the table and it did not break.
I bought it...

1.0 out of 5 stars Good nativity, if not broken.
We had gone through 4 of them and 3 were broken upon arrival. The packaging wasn't damaged which leads me to believe that they were broken upon packing.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK for price, but NOT nice like the picture, January 6, 2009

The backdrop arrived broken. These pieces feel rough, and the paint is uneven. They are kind of cheap looking like others have said. They do not look nearly as nice as the picture. Too bad, I loved the idea of the wording on them. I am sending them back, and by the way, since it is damaged, sending it back is free.

The positive elements about the nativity are:
*The concept: The Holy words printed on the gowns of the characters give this nativity a unique appeal. This is in fact what attracted me to the nativity in the first place.
*The size: Each individual character is very substantial in size and weight. These could easily fill a large space on a shelf and not be prone to toppling. In terms of size, you definitely get your money's worth.
*The price. The 2008 After Christmas Clearance price was about 1/4th of the original price, making it hard to have many complaints.

However, the quality and workmanship of the actual pieces is very poor. Paint is either smeared, stained or run in many places. The attention to detail is shoddy. The backdrop is not much more than a hefty piece of cardboard with hinges, and is wrapped badly in cheap "gold" foil paper.

If you're looking for an affordable nativity, you can do a lot worse than this one. However, if you're looking for a nice piece of art to add to a nativity collection, this one isn't up to snuff.

I purchased several different styles of the Elements Nativity. I was excited about the size and the weight of the items. They all came in broken. Amazon told me to throw away the nativities and they would send replacements, which they did. BUT now they are CHARGING me for the items they told me to throw away. They sent different emails some of which I didn't even see because I purchase a lot on line. The first one said to throw them out because they were dangerous and the one I didn't see said to return them. If you don't want to have to pay for these Elements nativities twice, either don't buy them or make sure you ignore the email that says to throw them away. Box them up, print a label, go to the post office and mail it back to them. You will have to do it with pretty much everyone you order, at least in my case that's the way it was. I'm very upset about paying for these items twice after being told to throw them away. I ordered at least 10 Elements set, most of which were the larger sets.

I sent an email about this and didn't even receive a response. I just sent a second one, I'm waiting on a response.

The paint job on this nativity was very substandard. It looks like a second to me. We got a good price after Christmas, but even so, it is not worth it. If I had seen it in a store I guarantee I wouldn't have brought it home at any price.

I bought it on the cheaper side of the Amazons ever changing price offerings, and thats probably is why I am pleased. I plan to give these as gifts next year as they look very impressive on display and the wording reminds everyone about why we have a holiday season at winter. As for the painting it looks rustic with the off tones and light and dark shadings, sort of home done. Not a bad set for display when you have little ones who might break something.

I just received this. I paid 10.00 for it on clearance and I don't think it's worth that. The backdrop was broken, but that wasn't a huge loss since it's so cheap and flimsy I can't imagine ever using it anyway. The pieces are rough and the painting is spotty, dull and very poor quality. Not worth the price of return shipping or worth storing it. This will go to the donate pile. Save your money.

Very cheap looking - this nativity set is worth the clearance price of $10 or so and not much more. The backdrop is composed of two heavy sheets of cardboard glued together and some of the edges are rough and uneven. The painted finish on the ceramic figures is splotchy and uneven. It looks like a grade schooler painted them and missed a few spots. Very disappointed!
