Book Description

January 1997 Elements of Series
Following the story of Arthurian lore and legend, this book concentrates on the magic, adventure and romance of the Celtic myth. It tells us about the sorcery of Merlin; the faery women of Arthur's court; the quest for the Holy Grail; the fellowship of the round table and King Arthur himself. Many of the well-known knights are included in this study such as Lancelot, Gawain, Perceval, and Galahad and the book tells of their chivalric journeys and particular detail of the origins of Lancelot and Tristian. John Matthews spent more than two decades studying the Arthurian tradition and advocates the personal involvement of readers in the legend. To enable the reader to be more conversant with the Arthurian Myth, exercises are provided which ask you to immerse yourself into your imagination and really sense yourself as part of Arthur's world.

This entire book was filled with beautiful illustrations, and gave a terrific overall view of the Arthurian tradition, not to mention Pre-Raphaelite art!....wonderful...

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book, May 3, 2000
This review is from: Elements of the Arthurian Tradition (Elements of Series) (Paperback)
This is a beautiful book, with magazine style articles (they coincide with the pictures). It is a great book to have around the house for a casual fast food reference of Authurian art, and a sort of who's who in the legendary relm of King Arthur. Great for all ages.

1.0 out of 5 stars This edition is NOT illustrated, August 25, 2009
This is a small book with pages yellowing from age (cheap paper). There are a few line drawings, but no "beautiful illustrations." The other reviews obviously refer to different editions, and are completely misleading.
