This review is from: Elements of Parliamentary Debate: A Guide to Public Argument, The (Paperback)
Elements of Parliamentary Debate is a user-friendly text covering parliamentary debate that I found both engaging to read and a useful debate reference. Apart from a solid explanation of the basics for a novice debater, the book works well for experienced debaters and students/professionals interested in improving their knowledge and skills in argumentation and persuasion. Examples throughout the work clarified more abstract theories and concepts. I would strongly recommend this for anyone interested in learning more about public argument and parliamentary debate!

This book is an invaluable tool for all debators - no matter what level of ability and experience they may possess. The book covers concepts such as how to formulate arguments, effectively pursuade an audience, and familiarizes the reader with old moldy Latin phrases like "post hoc ergo proctor hoc" and gives them meaning and teeth. Any student who is considering a foray into the addictive world of Parlimentary Debate *must* have this book by his or her side. Simply indispensable!
