I read a lot of novels and many anthologies. Usually I like a few stories in an anthology, but not others. I liked every story in this book. There is something for everyone, and while many tug at the heartstrings, others give you zombies or horses or magical flea market finds. There is even poetry for those who love that. This would make a perfect Christmas gift for the readers on your list, especially those who don't have time to sit down and read a novel.

Anthologies can be tricky things. In most, one writer usually stands out more than the others. In this anthology, they must have chosen only the cream of the crop! Each and every short story was well-written, finely tuned, and imaginatively crafted. The poetry was superb. I can only hope that these talented writers will do another anthology together, perhaps on one theme.

If variety really is the spice of life, then this collection of short stories encompasses a delightful olio. The talented writers supplied me with suspense, inspiration, thrills, reconciliation, retribution, spite, forgiveness - the best and worst which the human soul can display. There truly is something for everyone encapsulated within this collection. The more stories I read, the more I wanted to read. I reveled in the individual voices which each author gave to their characters, closed my eyes and saw the settings which were artfully painted, heard the conversations and background sounds, and was transported, becoming a voyeur.

As a fan of poetry, I also appreciated the poems which punctuated nearly every story (ten poems, 14 short stories). Whether you are looking for entertaining reading or a great gift for friends who read, I enthusiastically recommend Elements of the Soul.

Each story brought out a different emotion. I laughed, cried, got mad, and couldn't put the book down. Each story took on a life of its own and I couldn't wait to start the next one!

I read one story to my 1st grader because the imagery was so wonderful. He hung on to every word and couldn't wait to see what happened next.

This book is filled with an amazing variety of stories and poems. All of the authors are amazing. Each story is so well written. This book will move your soul! Each story and poem touches you in a way that creates a longing to read more. Excellent book!!!

WOW!! This was such a fantastic collection of short stories and poems... I actually couldn't put it down! I ended up staying up until 3 am to finish Elements of the Soul because I got so into it. Each time I finished a story I thought I'd keep reading until I got bored but that never happened. Each story was so different from the others and so well written. I was living in a different world with each change of author, dealing with such a roller coaster of emotions. I just wish the book had been longer! If you're looking for a page turner, pick this up. I guarantee you'll love it.
