This has been a standard in my bookshelf, actually on my bedside table, for many years. This new copy went to university with my grandson who is a freshman. I cannot say enough good things about this little book; neither can I tell you how many I have given to young (and older) students for use as they embark on high school or college writing. Strunk is the most concise and perfect help for writing that I have found.

This power packed literary guide is essential for anyone who wishes to write better. Whether you are in an English class or need to write something professionally, this is the guide book to show you how. I purchased this book for a college English course, and it has proved to be a valuable tool in furthering my written communication skills.

This book is formatted horribly. Chapters start in the middle of a page the way sentences should. Sentences are broken up and choppy. It's a shame that a book meant to guide people on writing techniques is done this bad in Kindle edition. Hopefully Amazon puts one out that is done right, because this book is an essential one to own, and I'm tired of carrying around my beat up paperback copy.

This is not the Elements of Style 4th edition in paperback. Its a condensed version of it and should not be a paperback choice of the original hardcover. Will be returning it!

This little book is considered classic and timeless by many professors and students. I find it very helpful. It inspired me to write my own book about English.

This version appears to be the original text by Strunk only. The fourth edition is a much updated publication and features both Strunk and White as the authors.

This is a public domain version of an old 1919 copy of a grammar text by William Strunk Jr. It is not useful. Writing standard are different in 2011 compared with 1919.

It's so wonderful that they have recompiled the original edition! It is so much fun to compare the old and new!

This book is very concise, but it contains the necessary information for your writing to be polished.

I was expecting the longer version ...my fault for not reading description carefully. But it looked like it included a spelling section not in the version that E.B. White contributed to. Elements of Style by Strunk and White is a fantastic writing handbook - 5 stars - very readable and slyly funny. I think the artistic touches (and great metaphors about the writing process) must have been from White.

So this one is disappointing in its brevity.
