Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The scientific genius of Leonardo da Vinci is brought to life in this easy to assemble snap-together plastic flying machine. Taken from the pages of da Vinci’s priceless and awe-inspiring notebooks, this model is made of plastic and requires no special tools. The manual is very educational and teach how these inventions have evolved into what they are today. The genius Da Vinci drew inspiration for his work from his direct observation of the flight of a bird. Da Vinci described its dimensions, the materials with which it is to be built, and its shape and how it works, the whole notebook revolves precisely around the construction and use of the machine. Da Vinci also imparted some “flying lessons" on how the pilot should operate the machine. The piloting must have been complex. He would use his hands and feet to activate ropes and could rotate, move and open and close the wings with his own movements. Da Vinci’s design is not drawn in its entirety. We must therefore reconstruct the indispensable parts. These include: the canvas to cover the wings, some articulations and pulleys, and the tail, which Da Vinci knew was indispensable for controlling the machine.

I bought this because it was described as a kite. This is more of a little plastic toy than anything else. I'd like to collect them all because they're pretty cool looking.

I gave different examples of Elenco kits of Leonardo's inventions to my husband, son, and sons-in-law. The kits went together easily. Each one will be an interesting piece on a desktop or bookshelf. They are attractive, fascinating to adults and children. They make you want to learn more about Leonardo Da Vinci.

As a side gift, I gave each one a copy of Leonardo Da Vinci's JOURNAL OF INVENTIONS. This is an exquisite pop-book with an authentic, antique look to it. My husband enjoyed browzing it at length.

These kits offer maximum value at a great price point.

I like the kite because it shows how a genius Da Vinci was. I like everything of it. It even shows you how to move it or How it was supposed to be moved in reallity.
I didn't give 5 stars because It doesn't have a stand. I put it over my desk but It moves around.
Anyways, it's an amazing and excellent kite.
