We love this toy. My daughter has spent many hours assembling the various rover variations covered in the accompanying manual. I highly recommend it for the educational component alone; it is also fun. But the real reason I am writing this review is because one of our components just stopped working. I called the company. "Jerry" took my information and said he'd send it right out. When I pointed out that I hadn't paid for the replacement part yet, he responded, "We support our products." This despite the fact that we've had this rover for many months! I mean, a free replacement part... Actually supporting the product... I about fell over...

Snap Circuits RC Rover We bought this for our 6 year old grandson. He has another smaller set and absolutely loves it. By following picture instruction he can quickly assemble electronic circuitry that actually performs a task. It encourages him to experiment and gives him a sense of accomplishiment. It's like an electronic erector set that was so popular when I was a kid. Very good desigh and sturdily built, even the case is compartmentalized for neat storeage.

In general, the snap kits are fantastic. My kids LOVE these, and had a fun time putting the rover together. For the most part, I'm a big fan of these kits (I own several)

The rover? Well... it isn't all skittles-and-beer. Read on.

The blue color from the tires on the SNAP rover can bleed into painted surfaces, and quickly too. Even leaving the rover on my kitchen table overnight (a white, pottery barn table) left blue tire-prints in the tabletop finish. It's not merely ON the paint, the color actually bled INTO the painted surface. Not even bleach and a scrubbing sponge have been able to remove the marks. I even tried a fine-grained sanding sponge at the risk of further damaging the finish, but quickly stopped, as that didn't seem to be working either. The SNAP rover's blue tires left similar marks on a white pottery barn craft table that my kids use in their play area.

I'd normally give this kit five stars... but it definitely loses a couple for marring the finish on two very expensive pieces of furniture.

This product is excellent...
far more than a toy, it's a learning experience that challenges a child, yet does not frustrate. Many levels of activity are possible with snap circuits, and the 8 year old for whom it was purchased loved it, along with his parents and brother and sisters! Superior in every way..

I'm 8. Thing I like best - you can change how it works by switching the snaps around. Thing I like least - It can not go very fast.

Overall, I think that it is a good toy for people that are interested in electronics.

I want some more toys from this company.

this toy is really cool but it needs 6 double a bats and 1 9v baterie

Bought this for my 11 year old son, and he just loves it. He built it pretty quickly and had re-built it several times just for the fun of it. To his mom's dismay, he's built large obstacle courses around the house, and drives it all over the place. He's also attached many home made accessories to enhance his play and stir his imagination.

We found the Elenco R/C Snap Rover at a local thrift store (and lucked out, all the components were still there and functional). I had been familiar with Elenco's product line (especially their robotics kits) for years, and the quality of their kits (and most importantly, the instructions) is very, very good. This one did not disappoint!

(Just a note: I rated its Durability a 4 out of 5 because the small electronic components are mounted on top of each building block, and thus exposed they can be easily damaged by careless hands (or by driving under low clearance furniture).

I'd been concerned that this kit would be too advanced for our 6-1/2 year-old (it's recommended for Ages 8-108), but our son is a skillful reader and an experienced LEGO builder, and so he dived right in to building this kit. After he read the instructions aloud, he proceeded to assemble Project #1 and Project #2 (both of which result in a drivable radio-controlled robotic rover with two additional functions). Other than doing a final circuit inspection, Dad left him to his own devices, and he did great! Best part is, there are still 21 other circuits he can build with this set.

The look of joy on our son's face when the rover responded precisely to his hand controller was so very much worth the purchase price, in fact, it would have been worth ten times the price. If you have a budding engineer (or gadgeteer) in your family, I highly recommend this kit!

My 3-year old loves playing with this kit. We've been alternating between assembling and disassembling the Rover at least several times a week before he goes to bed. It's become a part of our quiet time/sleep routine. I am directing and doing most of the assembly process, but he loves calling out the types of parts and snapping them in place. Once the car is assembled, he takes a turn with the remote control, though still has trouble getting wheels on both sides moving at the same time.

He also quite enjoys breaking the circuits apart. We then sort and replace the pieces into their proper silos in the box, which teaches him shapes. I am also trying to teach him numbers by talking about the number of attachments on each circuit. I am very surprised and pleased by the amount of use we are getting out of this toy, particularly given the age of my son.

My six year old son loves it. He was able to assemble it although he is a beginner reader. The quality is good also except the light bulb blew, thank goodness it is replaceable. It makes them think and figure how the parts work.It is a good toy for a mechanical kid.
