I was looking for something to fill out my apartment, something that oozed manliness but that my girlfriend would still tolerate. Then I happened across this baby.

If you're someone like me who played with loads of Legos and Transformers as a kid, you can pretty much snap this together in under 10 minutes. If it takes you longer than 30, you pretty much fail as a human being. With practise, I imagine I could get my dino assembly time under 5 minutes and then enter the regional dino assembly championships.

For the price, the model is super-high quality. He has a metal spine that all the vertebrae slide sensually onto. Once you slot him onto his little rock he's perfectly stable. The finish of the bones is also great - originally I was gonna spray-paint him shiny black but he looks so badass that I decided just to leave him as-is.

The only negative I have is that the base looks a bit ugly compared to the awesome majesty of the skelington. I would prefer a mahogany base, emblazoned with a simple brass plaque bearing the dinosaur's name, or alternately, a mound of blood-soaked human skulls.

Anyway, awesome stuff Elenco! I would totally recommend this for any classroom, man cave, or love nest.

I was looking for an excellent, almost museum-quality scale model and this is it. I actually display mine in my home (I'm that kind of guy) and it really looks great. Easy to assemble (extremely clever design BTW) but I wouldn't call it a "toy" -- it's not the sort of thing a kid would bounce around the house with really.

But it's the best model of its type at a reasonable price. Extraordinarily detailed and nicely finished. If you have a clever "dinosaur kid" in the family they will probably love it.

This model kit was given to my son for his birthday. After our recent trip to WDW and the Smithsonian he has been fascinated w/ dinos.
My almost 9 yr old, my son (who is 6), and my 4 yr old were able to put this together by themselves with almost no help.
The directions were very easy to follow.

They were all very proud of themselves after this was complete. I couldn't believe the size.
My son really likes it and I like the fact that he is asking questions about something that was real!

As a dinosaur fan, especially of the T-Rex this model kit was a great find. There are over 50 pieces and this kit goes together very easy. I did glue mine together so it is permanently assembled. I also painted mine once assembled. This is a great looking kit and you can't beat the price. Similar kits are $100-$150.

You can spend hundreds for these types of dinosaur models, or you can spend around $50 for Elenco's model. It looks impressive off in a corner. People wil look at it and think all kinds of flattering things about you. However if you have it displayed on a special table in the middle of your living room people may take you for a tool. It's easy and fun to put together. I was surprised at how well made it is.

It's also an inexpensive and great gift for the "right" people. Kids will love it. People curious about the sciences will love it. I'm not sure whether pro bowlers, venture capitalists, or politicians would go for it, but who knows.

The only complaint I have about it (and it's a very minor complaint) is that when you're not around people will mess with it. It stands delicately on its two legs and will easily fall apart when touched. But that's not a problem as the parts are sturdy and go back together in seconds. So don't get upset when you see it in pieces every now and then (and that WILL happen).

I am a "T REX" fan.. I looked at replica models in the National History Museums in DC and New York and online. They were all very pricey.. Was looking on Amazon and found this gem.. Looked at the reviews and took a chance.. Not disappointed.... This is really not a toy as it has museum quality aspects.. Just for looking at...NOT for a child to "play with".. Only one problem.. The "Discovery Channel" had it for $49.99 and I bought it... then it went to down to $29.99 for Christmas.. Oh well... I still enjoy mt T-REX... It gets a lot of compliments and interest for those "special people" who enjoy "him or her".. Hard to tell with a T-REX..

Super fun and EASY to get the 50 some odd peices together; well engineered. My 6 y.o. and I got this together in about 30 minutes and he loves it. It is also quite the conversation peice!

This 36" long T-rex replica skeleton took me about 20 minutes to assemble and most of that time was spent looking for the numbers on each piece. You basically slide about 50 plastic pieces onto a metal backbone and they all snap together to stay in place. Some pieces were a tight fit, but nothing needed to be forced too much. The dino is very unbalanced until you get the whole thing put together and put into place on the plastic stand. Then it stays in place like you see in the pictures. Just don't try to play with it or it will likely fall down and the legs or tail may pop off, but they just snap back into place. It really is more of a display piece, and I must say that it looks pretty awesome on one of my end tables. Very realistic looking and totally worth the $54 in my opinion.
