In his screen debut, eleven-year-old Indian-born Sabu plays the title character, a mahout named Toomai... Description Little Toomai longs to be a great hunter like his father but on an expedition his father is killed and Toomai is told to go home. But Toomai follows secretly and upon hearing his elephant's sounds of distress at being separated from him runs to the loyal animal and escapes with it into the jungle only to find the legendary herd of dancing elephants which the hunting party is looking for.

Walter Hudd plays an evil white master lording over several Indian servants in Colonial India, who gets more than he bargained for in a spirited young mahout named Toomai (Sabu), who has a knack for relating to elephants. Toomai is especially bonded with one called Kala Nag, who has been his only friend since the adolescent's father's untimely death. When Kala Nag is sold despite Toomai's pleadings, the boy sets out to find him. Based on Rudyard Kipling's Toomai, of the Elephants. Not as good as the book, and somewhat tattered with age, but it's still a good movie.

I love these old movies with Sabu.

He see's the dance of the elephants. A wonderful family movie.
