5.0 out of 5 stars Only the best!
I love Bill Frisell and Jack Dejohnette and I must say I was not disappointed at all. This is an excellent live duo recording of these two modern jazz giants. The ambience is atmospheric and really is on par with DeJohnette's greatest ECM work, and Bill Frisell's guitar has not sounded as good on any of his recent solo outings that have tended to be somewhat too tame in...

Yes, i am also a big fan of these guys. But you can't help feeling that this is a 'let's record something fast cause we have other things to do' kind-a record. Of course, with players of this experience and caliber something is bound to stick. Listen before buying!

The ambience is atmospheric and really is on par with DeJohnette's greatest ECM work, and Bill Frisell's guitar has not sounded as good on any of his recent solo outings that have tended to be somewhat too tame in my opinion. Here at some points Bill Frisell really plays loud again. A big surprise since I had not heard of it until I found it today at Archambaud.

Everything you might expect with these two in a room together with no distractions. Made my day. Get the Motian - Garden of Eden that they're offering too. Two of the best cd's I've heard in a long long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Textures, July 20, 2011
This review is from: Elephant Sleeps But Still Remembers (Audio CD)
This is an incredible CD that I have been coming back to for years. Frisell and DeJohnette create textures of raw power and beauty. Don't buy it if you want melodies. Melodies are not necessary in this CD.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some good songs, July 27, 2006

Let me start by saying I'm a HUGE Frisell and DeJohnette fan. The duo thing is nice - but really it's just improvising with little or no discussion in advance. Vamp/Modal stuff - if that, sometimes.

I'd rather hear these guys tackle some new music but there are some strong 'songs' on this recording. Most are kind of weak though. Beware.
