I needed to write a paper on a topic involving ecocriticism for my summer semester class Placing American Literature. I chose the plight of circus elephants in America. I did not know what to expect from this book. It came in the mail and I thought "this is such a small book." However, after reading it, I reread it a few times, because I really liked it. It's a small, thin book but packs a huge wallop! I like it so much, I want to see the play performed!

I've recently been cast in a production of this play and as a cast member, have gone to great lengths to research my role. What amazes me is how much of this research is mirrored in Brant's wonderful script. He has written a play that is not only well researched and period appropriate, but he delves into such great character study that the play feels very organic and natural as well. This is a great play that is touching on many levels, and accessible to so many audiences. Do not miss reading this for yourself!
