I have taught third and fourth grade for years, and I have read this book each year. Each year they have loved it.Most of my fellow teachers have not heard of this book, and always want to borrow it. I'm not sure how I stumbled across it, but I'm glad I did.

Good Family Book,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Elevator Family (Hardcover)
The Wilsons seem like a happy and helpful family, although they stayed in an elevator during their vacation. This is a hilarious book that shows families don't have to have a lot of things to get along. I liked Gavin and all the flowers he brought to the elevator because he liked Cathy and bought the flowers from her. If you want an easy to read fun book, this is it. It has its ups and downs!

Hope for a Sequel,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Elevator Family (Hardcover)
This is a very funny book about a family who likes small places and takes a vacation inside an elevator. It has its ups and downs. They meet and help a lot of people during the four days they stay in the hotel. Douglas Evans should write a sequel to this book. The elevator family could stay in elevators all over the country. Only the best!

The Elevator Family,
By Claudia Puckett (Winchester, Kentucky United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Elevator Family (Hardcover)
As a primary teacher, I found this book to be well written and appropriate for children beginning to read chapter books. The story is fast paced providing the reader with a variety of colorful characters. The Wilson family exhibits strong family values and shares their exuberance for life with everyone they meet. Since they are spending their vacation in an elevator at the hotel, they meet many diverse people as they go up and down, from floor to floor all day long. The Winsons help their new friends find love, companionship, and even solve a mystery during their three-day vacation. What I enjoyed most was visualiing the Wilsons sleeping, eating, and even having a dinner party inside a little elevator named Otis.

I thought this was a good book. I read it without putting it down. I also liked Apple Island by Doug Evans and this book was just as funny.

Matthew's review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Elevator Family (Paperback)
I liked The Elevator Family. The book is about a family that is going on vacation and finds a room in an elevator. It was funny how they didn't know that their room was an elevator and they thought their room's name was Otis, but it was really the company that made the elevator. They meet lots of people on the elevator. I would recommend this book.
