Outstanding, October 21, 2004

This was the first Peter Jefferies album I heard. I had a This Kind Of Punishment record (his earlier band) that I liked, but nothing prepared me for this. He plays the piano like a drum kit and the drums like a guitar. He is similar to Tom Waits at his best - that perfect mix of voice, words and music to create a mood, without relying on a single cliche.
The best way I can describe this album is: put aside all the negative connotations you have with music labelled "adult" for a moment. *This* is music for adults.
