4.0 out of 5 stars Wildly innovative, December 13, 1998

This review is from: Eleven Intrusions / Plectra & Percussion Dances (Audio CD)
This is an introduction to Partch for me and it is a fascinating album. It doesn't resemble classical music, even twentieth centruy classical music, so much as extraterrestrial ethnic folk. I was initially intimidated away from Harry Partch because of the technical hoobledygook of musical theorists who comment on his music. But really this is wonderful, fascinating and ultimately a winning listen for anyone. My only complaint might be that for all of Partch's unique musical invention, there could have been more substance to the stories told through the sublimity. I recommend it.
