5.0 out of 5 stars It's leaving me hanging until the next book!!!!
Wow! This was awesome. I have followed the series since the beginning and this sequel does not disappoint. I read the entire thing in about four hours (with frequent pauses near the end so as to draw out the end).
Vlad has more problems than your average teen. His former best friend Joss wants to slay him, the former head of the Vampire Council D'Ablo wants to...

3.0 out of 5 stars chewed on bottom lip
Book was good. Suspenseful. It was helpful that I had read the previous 3, otherwise I would have been a little lost. A little more back history would have been great. I was so tired of reading "chewed on bottom lip" - perhaps Heather could up with something new?

This would make a fun movie.

Wow! This was awesome. I have followed the series since the beginning and this sequel does not disappoint. I read the entire thing in about four hours (with frequent pauses near the end so as to draw out the end).
Vlad has more problems than your average teen. His former best friend Joss wants to slay him, the former head of the Vampire Council D'Ablo wants to stab him, a new mysterious vampire wants to bite him, Eddie wants to alert the world to his existence, his former girlfriend Meredith wants to know why he was so cruel to her, and his drudge Snow wants to be more than just a delicious cheesburger to him.
Heather's ability to keep multiple plot points in the air and still draw out an entire year of Vlad's junior year life is awesome.
If you are new the series, buy Eight Grade Bites first and enjoy the ride! If you read the others in the series, don't stop now!

5.0 out of 5 stars HOLY CRAP SO GOOD!, February 21, 2010
A Kid's Review
When I read the description of this book I thought that it would be boring, and that it would be the worst in the series SO WRONG! This book was the -best- in my view, it didn't lead up to events totally randomly, and it makes you want to read more and more.

AND THE ENDING, I want to know what happens in the next book so badly!

Such a good ending.

I brought this book for my son, who has read the previous Vladimir Tod books which he loves. This one was no exception. Within one weekend, he'd finished it and had commented that the books keep getting better.
He's eagerly awaiting his next Tod book :) Me too, gives me a peaceful weekend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eleventh Grade Burns With a Good Story, March 1, 2010
Vlad Tod is finally a junior in high school, which should be a good thing for our favorite teen vampire, right? Unfortunately, he's got a lot on his plate right now: he's broken up with his girlfriend (so what if it's for her own good?), he's got a sort-of relationship with the girl from whom he's been drinking, his uncle is likely to be put on trial for killing another vampire, and oh, yeah, Joss, his former friend-who-is-really-a-vampire-slayer? He's back in town. Things aren't going so well.

At the time when a lot of series start to either tire out or lose steam, Heather Brewer's Vlad Tod vampire series is definitely getting better and better. Vlad's a very conflicted young man, yet he's also a typical teen in many ways. When he watches Meredith, his former girlfriend, become interested in Joss, his heart shreds; when he kisses Snow (the goth girl from whom he's been drinking), he longs for her while knowing he still loves Meredith. And Vlad still thinks there is something good in Joss, even if it seems the slayer is determined to kill him...but it may just take the death of one or the other for Vlad to find out.

Lots and lots of action fills Eleventh Grade Burns, and new vampires are introduced who bring Vlad more information about both his parents and his future as the fabled Pravus. Brewer gives this entry a very dark tone, but it suits the situations well. And that cliffhanger ending? Killer, just killer. This series is just getting better and I'm so glad to be along to see how it all plays out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great read from Heather, February 19, 2010

Loving Eleventh Grade Burns. Just started it last night and I'm hooked. It's great to see Vlad getting older and face the teen challenges along with his vampire issues. Love what's happening with his folks house and Nellie. It's all good so far. Can't wait to finish the book and then wonder about senior year for Vlad.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good 4th in a series of 5, November 24, 2010
This review is from: Eleventh Grade Burns #4: The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod (Mass Market Paperback)
Snow leaned in again, her lips tempting him. Vlad pushed her back--a little more forcefully than he had intended--and growled. "Stop. Just stop. Just... let me think."

She immediately relaxed back against the wall, following a direct order from her vampire master.

Vlad stepped back, pacing some in the dark alleyway. "I think you're confused, Snow. This... this isn't a... a..."

"Relationship?" she offered.

Vlad nodded. "You're my drudge, my food source. You shouldn't be kissing me. You don't really like me; you're just confused."

She shook her head, serious. Hurt lurked in her dark eyes. "I knew and liked you for a whole hour before I became your drudge, Vlad. If you don't want me to kiss you, why not just order me not to?"

But that was the problem. Vlad didn't know what he wanted. Not exactly.

This is a nice 4th in a series of 5 of the Vlad Tod chronicles. Vlad is in 11th grade now, and he is starting to find himself. It's hard enough to find yourself as a regular teenager, and Vlad has the half vampire -- half human thing to deal with as well. Joss, his once friend and current vampire slayer, is back in town to rid humanity of "monsters" like Vlad.

If you like vampire stories you will like 11th Grade Burns. If you are already into the series you won't be disappointed. Ends with a nice cliff-hanger.

5.0 out of 5 stars WAYYY GOOD!!!, January 1, 2012
When I read the description, I was confused. Who's Dorian? Why is Joss, out of all people, coming back??? Those were just some of the questions that got answered.
From page 1 it was very good! Non-stop action, the biggest cliff-hanger I've ever read in a book, suspense, horror, romance, and humor equaled one great book.
POSITIVES
~ Vlad has grown alot since eighth grade.
~ Everything's just right.
NEGATIVES
~ He starts hanging around the goths way too much in this book.
~ Otis' trial was too much to bear.
The book is good, but you must read in order to know what's going on
