4.0 out of 5 stars Funny, I thought it was called "Fairy Princess Ren..", October 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Elf Princess Rane [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Well, regardless of the title, this is a very strange and very funny spoof of every anime convention known to man. Witness Mr. Zenshuin's amazing hair that just won't keep out of his eyes! See Rane speak in her native language, which in Japanese often sounds something like "It's still soaking in the dress from yesterday and mushy, mushy.." Try to keep track of all of Go's identical sisters! Marvel at how fast these Japanese VAs can TALK! (I still have to see if they were able to match that in the dub..) There's not much story, but this isn't the sort of thing you watch for story. It's just insanity. And stay through the Japanese end credits! Trust me on this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars My first, and still favorite, anime, November 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Elf Princess Rane [VHS] (VHS Tape)
When I bought this video, I was really excited. It was the first anime video I was going to own, and I was pumped. When I got home, I was not dissapointed! It was hilariously funny, especially the character who babbles words that are a combination of Japanese movie directors, American cartoons, and french. A hilarious must see for all anime owners! But be warned, IT IS BIZZARE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious., October 27, 1999

The anime equivalent of Monty Python's Flying Circus (with marginally more plot). Really freaking good, and really freaking surreal (my favourite is the "rap" bit--absolutely hysterical). They damn well better release the rest of it o'er here, the bastards.

5.0 out of 5 stars funny, July 15, 1999

Elf princess rane is an exellent comedy which will have you choking on laughter. Take Go Takarada for instance- a reckless adventurer who constantly falls from high places Leen- The foul mouthed rival elf bent on killing Rane that b**** Mari- A sweet innocent.... never mind. Go's sisters- all identical but all so different The insanity of this anime will make you forget the storyline and watch the antics of the numerous odd charcters. The art may look like any other high grade fantasy anime but it's unique. and wonderfull

5.0 out of 5 stars Silly as heck, and very rewatchable., March 21, 2002

I hate dubs, but I bought this subbed and dubbed, just because it's so incredibly silly and funny both ways. It's manic, and fun to watch with friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars Elf Princess Rane, July 8, 2001

If you're in the mood for (to put it bluntly) a completely hilarious anime, this is definitely it. With slapstick humor and crazy antics designed to entertain even the simplest of minds. You've got the human adventurer, Go, who meets our little Elf Princess Rane and decides to take up her offer to find hidden treasure of the "Great Salamandara!" His friend Mauri is rather jealous that he keeps leaving her behind until she finds the little Elf witch Leen who is trying to find Rane. Through a whole series of mishaps, they somehow find themselves tumbling through a whole mess of trouble (and fun) and off to a start of an even bigger adventure. On a smaller note: The series was never finished, or if it was, I've never seen hide, nor hair, of it. But it's a great humorous film to watch. Watch out for a few brief nudity scenes, but nothing explicit nor anything too graphic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny as Hell!, January 3, 2001
This review is from: Elf Princess Rane [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The show is so amazing, it isn't even funny and wacky! Meet Go and his infinite sisters and the blue haired guy who speaks weirdly and can't keep his hair out of his face.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is great, March 9, 2000
This review is from: Elf Princess Rane [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I love this anime, it's soooo funny. Deffinately worth the buy. But be warned, if nudity offends you then skip it. Plenty or beautiful babes, just how many sisters does Go have anyways? I can't wait for the next ones "this is gonna be great, I just cannot wait"
