Book Description

9 and up4 and up
The Elf Queen and the King II continues the Ruin Mist Tales, an epic fantasy series for young readers from bestselling author Robert Stanek. Ruin Mist Tales represent the dark path through the Ruin Mist Chronicles. Don't miss out on this special hardcover edition! The one hope of the peoples of Ruin Mist was Queen Mother, the elf queen of old. She saw a way out of everlasting darkness, a path that required the union of the divided peoples. Yet the Elves of the West did not share her vision. They thought her mad and answered her call for help with a call to arms. Now for the first time in recorded history the armies of the West are marching toward the sacred city of the East and an unholy war where elf must fight elf is inevitable. To turn back the tides of one war and prepare for another, Queen Mother must send her most trusted warriors on a perilous journey across the Great Sea, but what the elves will find if they can reach the far shores cannot be known for certain.

More About the Author

I'm Robert Stanek, and I've been writing stories for nearly 30 years. Though I've always been a writer at heart, I never set out to be a writer. What I wanted to be, I didn't know when I said goodbye to high school. What I wanted to do though, I knew that: I wanted to see the world--and so I did while serving my country in distant lands.

I wrote novels for more than ten years before I ever tried to get published. My big break came with a book about publishing--only a different sort of publishing than you may be thinking. The book was about web publishing and so my career in writing began. While I wrote those other books, I wrote many, many stories and books for my kids, and I collected them for a few decades, until at my children's urging I set out to get them published for others to enjoy.

I am the second youngest of five children, raised by a single mom. While stationed in Hawaii with the U.S. Air Force and working shift work, I went back to school and earned my bachelor's and master's degrees from Hawaii Pacific University. After an 11-year career in the military, I moved with my wife and children to Washington State. When I'm not writing, I can be found playing video games, reading books, or trekking the great outdoors in search of adventure with my wife and children.

It's been a fairly open secret I also write as William Stanek. You can learn more about me at http://www.robertstanek.com or at http://stanek.reagentpress.com. Find me on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/RobertStanekAuthor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dismal., October 22, 2005
I'm sorry to have to say that this is one of those crystal clear examples of why some people are self published. I saw no literary or stroytelling merit in the work at all. Compared with the work of masters such as Vernor Vinge, George R.R. Martin or David Langford, this limp effort doesn't even get its head above the parapet.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Story!, October 17, 2002

My father bought this book for me because he liked Keeper Martin's Tale so much. He's usually good at picking interesting stories but this time he REALLY did it. There aren't enough stars up there to credit Mr. Stanek justly! 'EQ&K' showcases his great talent and ability to breath life into a story. This dark fantasy is full of unexpected twists, keeping the story exciting. It is a truly brilliant work--the best I have yet discovered. If you have even the slightest interest after reading these reviews, then I strongly suggest that you find yourself a copy or two or three! I can't imagine anyone could be disappointed with this one. Thank you, Mr. Stanek! Thank you!
