More About the Author

Katherine Applegate's many books include the Roscoe Riley Rules chapter book series, the picture book The Buffalo Storm, and the award-winning novel Home of the Brave. With her husband, Michael Grant, she wrote the hugely popular series Animorphs, which has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide.

Katherine was inspired to write The One and Only Ivan after reading about the true story of a captive gorilla known as Ivan, the Shopping Mall Gorilla. The real Ivan lived alone in a tiny cage for twenty-seven years at a shopping mall before being moved to Zoo Atlanta after a public outcry. He is now a beloved celebrity at the zoo, which houses the nation's largest collection of western lowland gorillas. Ivan is well known for his paintings, which he "signs" with a thumb-print.

Katherine lives in California with her husband and two children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elfangor's Secret --- second best of all four Megamorphs, November 1, 2000
This review is from: Elfangor's Secret (Megamorphs #3) (Paperback)
I thought Megamorphs #3: Elfangor's Secret was very well planned out by the author, and it is also well-written though it's very confusing. I thought Visser Four was very well- decribed. I just wonder: In Elfangor's Secret, meeting a new visser was a big thing for the Animorphs, and in #46 The Deception, when they meet Visser Two, it isn't a major thing nor is it well- decribed. But when we meet Visser Four, it's far more exciting then when we finally meet Visser Two. The book itself revolves around the discovery of the Time Matrix, a dangerous device that can alter time. It is capable of destroying everything the Animorphs have ever known. So when the Animorphs journey through time to go after Visser Four from using the Matrix to alter time , strange things are happening. History is being altered by the visser, and the Animorphs are in a race against time to stop him. But their stopping Visser Two comes with a deadly price....

5.0 out of 5 stars Very excellent and well thought-out., September 1, 1999

This review is from: Elfangor's Secret (Megamorphs #3) (Paperback)
It had to be probably one of the best Megamorphs yet. It certainly kept my interest going. It brought back the Time Matrix from The Andalite Chronicles and because of that the Animorphs were sent through time! I really felt sorry for Jake for what happened to him, and I loved it when Rachel and Tobias (sorry, but you have got to read it to find out). The story started out confusing, but later on it explains itself and then the true excitment begins. I also liked that the story goes through many different time periods, which really taught me a thing or two. It was good that the book could be educational, because now parents can't tell their kids that reading these types of books are bad and that they shouldn't read them anymore. I just hope that the series has more surprises in the future as it did in here.

I thought that this book was great! The Animorphs find out that Visser Four has found the Time Matrix and is trying to change history so Earth can be easier to conquer. The Animorphs follow Visser Four through time and try to stop him. Read it to find out what happens.
