Another Warp Winner!, December 29, 2000
This review is from: Elfquest Reader's Collection #11c: Shadowstalker (Paperback)
As everyone is aware, rarely do sequential works measure up to the original performance piece. As everyone also knows, there are always exceptions to basic rules. One of the most well executed graphic novels to be presented from Warp Graphics is "Shadowstalker". With exquisite artwork rendered by Lorraine Reyes and equally matchless word-work penned by Joellyn Auklandus, this addition to the EQ universe weaves the story of Cutter's daughter, Ember, and the trials she and her tribe face when stalked by a human hunter like none they have previously encountered. Speaking the elfin language and hunting the elfin way, the hunter, Lehrigen, challenges everything about the Wolfriders including the very foundations of what it means to be chieftain of the tribe. This story is some of the best work produced by the Next EQ Generation and well worth picking up.

Betrayal and Acceptance - the Wild Hunt continues...., December 18, 2000
This review is from: Elfquest Reader's Collection #11c: Shadowstalker (Paperback)
Humans have threatened the Wild Hunt wolfrider tribe before, but this 'stalker' is different - he is dangerously intelligent, and can even speak their language. His presence endangers everyone in the tribe and Ember's status as chieftess is challenged. How the tribe handles both the internal threat of division and the hunter who stalks them is skillfully handled by Joellyn Auklandus' writings and Lorraine Reyes' beautiful, manga-esque artwork. All Fantasy/Science Fiction fans should join the ranks of dedicated Elfquest fans in enjoying this skillful tale.

Not as good as the originals, better than some other sequels, November 13, 2002
This review is from: Elfquest Reader's Collection #11c: Shadowstalker (Paperback)
I realize a lot of people are griping about the art, and it *would* look 1000 times better in full color.
However, the art's better, and truer to the Pini style, than I have seen in almost any other Elfquest sequel, and I could figure out what was going on in the story despite having not read many of the intervening books. If you're feeling Elfquest-deprived but don't feel like purchasing a lot of inferior art and lame plotlines in order to understand what's going on, this is the book for you.
