Unexpected and fascinating,

This review is from: Elia Levita Bachur's Bovo-Buch: A Translation of the Old Yiddish Edition of 1541 with Introduction and Notes (Paperback)
This book is definitely not what you have in mind when you think 'yiddish literature'. The adventures of this jewish Don Quixote have more in common with Michael Chabon's 'Gentlemen of the road' than with Bashevis Singer's books.
Introduction and notes are as interesting as the text itself which is quite short. Knowledgeable and fun reading. |
