A FASCINATING AND INSIGHTFUL VIEW OF ELIJAH MUHAMMAD,
By
This review is from: Elijah Muhammad Meets the Press (Paperback)
Elijah Muhammad (1897-1975; born as Elijah Robert Poole) led the Nation of Islam from 1934 until his death. This booklet gives a revealing and rare interview with reporters. Here are some quotations from the interview:Q: Have you designated a successor for yourself? A: I do not do that. I cannot do that. I did not choose myself. God chose me and if He wants a successor, He Will Choose that one. (Pg. 17) Q: Do you have visions? A: I do not say really have visions, but I do have voices, at times... I know God. I was with Him about three years and about four or five months. I know His Voice. And when He Speaks, I know it." (Pg. 27) Q: Are you talking about Mr. Fard? A: It was Him that I have learned all that I am now teaching. I do not know anything of myself. It is what He Has Given me." (Pg. 28-29) Q: The press states that you label all while people blue-eyed devils. Is this true? A: Whether they are actually blue-eyed or not, if they are actually one of the members of that race, they are devils." (Pg. 30) A: It is only through Islam that white people can be saved." (Pg. 32)
