Book Description

Book Synopsis:
Do you have a self-defeating behavior you thought you could never eliminate? Do you think you can do as well as a six-year-old child? If the answer is yes to both of these, you can become your best self and eliminate that behavior you thought was part of you. You can become one of the Best Self Superheroes who changes their own lives for the better forever!

This is an easy and fun way to improve your life! Developed for elementary school children, it was later used for great-grandparents, young adults, and the middle-aged. It works on all ages. Use this program to help your children, a classroom, a social group, a church group, a business, or yourself. It can be used easily for one person or a large group, and even used for those who cannot read or write (as long as someone reads the directions to them).

It does not matter if the problem is biting nails, perfectionism, procrastination, dishonesty, anger management, gossiping, not sticking to diet or exercise programs, poor self-esteem, or any other thought, feeling, or behavior that is keeping you from being your best self. Once you and your loved ones learn the easy techniques of self-mastery, you can use them repeatedly to conquer one self-defeating behavior after another. Become the Best Self Superhero you were born to become!

4.0 out of 5 stars great little book!! September 2, 2009
This is a great little book! As a mental health professional, I was interested in this book particularly for clients. I found this book is wonderfully practical because it is (1) a short easy read, and (2)it gives easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions. It is not only easy to understand, but simple to use. I have applied similar principles personally and with many clients, and will be able to put the additional insights to good use.

I would have rated this book a 5 if it included more real life examples and applications, especially to a clinical setting. The author keeps it pretty light instead. Even so, the principles presented are an extremely valuable addition even to working with serious problems such as addictions. The author has done a really nice job of encapsulating simple but very powerful practices to help people change a wide variety of SDB's. This book is very very worth the read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and highly relevant January 12, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book was easy to read, simple to apply, and user friendly. I'm a LIcensed Clinical Social Worker so the concepts are not new to me. However, they are broken down into such basic terms that I can explain them much more easily to my young children. The book contains examples and tools to apply the techniques. It's a short and concise manual which can be used by individuals for themselves, by parents with their children, or by clinicians with their clients- whether children, adolescents, or adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars It even worked for an 8 year-old with bedwetting! March 4, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This method has worked with many self-defeating behaviors, including my former neighbor's 8 year-old son's bedwetting problem! Not only did he stop wetting his bed, but he stopped getting into fights at school and got along better with his family! All this happened in about 6 weeks, and the results continued on and on. He even started teaching all his friends the techniques so they could eliminate their own self-defeating behaviors, and I was told he told his teacher about the techniques. The boy's younger sister and mom employed the techniques successfully for their own "SDB's." This book would be great for school counselors to use or anyone of any age or profession! The options for self-improvement are endless with this book! It even helped a 10 year-old girl stop getting hurt all the time! It is short and to the point. The fluff that is in longer books has been eliminated. It is easy to read and easy to do the steps.
