3.0 out of 5 stars Technically poor recording of historic event, June 5, 2006

This review is from: Elisabeth Schwarzkopf Farewell Recital 1977 (Audio CD)
I'm glad to have this evidence of the consummate musicianship of one of my favorite singers, but purchasers should be warned that this is a mono recording with lots of hiss and some distortion -- made from the audience? Muffled and muddy piano sound, Schwarzkopf's voice often a bit distorted.

Still, it's fun to hear old Schwarzkopf favorites performed with slightly different tempi and decoration, and some less-familiar pieces, too.

In summary, not worth a penny more than its bargain price.
