Book Description

9 and up4 and up
Time Period:  Jan. 1864 - April 1865  With the nation convulsed by civil war, Elise Brannon wants people to look past the depressing news that arrives daily from the battlefields: Through her love of acting, she'll make them laugh and forget-at least for awhile. But even her optimism is challenged when a family friend dies from battle wounds. . .she's captured by a band of deserters. . .and President Lincoln is assassinated. Elise the Actress uses actual historical events to tell the poignant fictional story of a ten-year-old girl growing up in very trying times. It's an excellent tool for teaching both history and the Christian faith!

3.0 out of 5 stars A good book, though slow at times., July 16, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Elise the Actress: Climax of the Civil War (1865) (Sisters in Time #13) (Paperback)
I liked this book. It was very interesting looking into the life of a child living in the time of the civil war.

It was a very cute book... but I must admit that is was a little slow in the beginning. Nothing that grabs your interest right away. For me, it took reading halfway through the book until it started getting interesting.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this book!!!!!!, July 19, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Elise the Actress: Climax of the Civil War (1865) (Sisters in Time #13) (Paperback)
I got this book for my 11th birthday last month, and it is one of the best books I've ever read! I know that if you buy this book you will absolutely love it too. I'm sorry that I have to say this, but I didn't think she was the kind of girl that LOVES acting if you know what I mean. (But I'm not disappointed that she isn't the "actress" I thought she'd be because I like her the way she is better.) I still give this book five stars for sure. Once I started the book I couldn't put it down. So I ended up reading it in one sitting. I definitely recommend it.
