I bought this to replace a different model that quit working properly. This cooker is similar and even has the same equipment, including the measuring cup with egg puncture pin. Here's how I make foolproof soft boiled eggs:

1. Remove the lid and place the plastic egg holder template on the unit
2. Pour in the amount of water you need (low mark for soft boiled eggs) right on top of the stainless heating plate
3. Take a large or extra large egg and punch a hole in the big end
4. Place it big end down in one of the egg holder holes in the plastic template (yes, big end down). Add as many eggs as you like in the same manner. I've done up to 4 with good results. I imagine you could fill it with eggs and it would work fine.
5. Plug in the unit and push in the power button. The light will come on.
6. Set a timer for 7 minutes (I use the timer on the nearby stove)
7. The unit should turn off around 6 minutes. Leave the eggs in there until the timer goes off at 7 minutes
8. Open the lid and drop the eggs gently into a container of cold water for 1 minute only
9. Remove the eggs from the water and place one at a time into a soft boiled egg holder, slice off the top with a sharp knife and enjoy. I bought some small teaspoons at Ikea that work perfectly in dipping into these soft boiled eggs and scooping out the contents.
10. Alternatively, use an egg topper to help remove the top of the egg cleanly. I use the Rosle Egg Topper also sold on Amazon.

I should have bought one of these a long time ago! Makes awesome eggs! Cooked to perfection. Shells on the hard boiled eggs come right off. I have a temperamental gas stove and I've had trouble making hard boiled eggs on it boiling them in a pan. This cooker solves all my problems. No beeper when its done though but no worries I just set a timer according to what kind of eggs I'm making. Easy to clean and store. Buy one!

I went through about a dozen eggs until I got it dialed in on how long to cook them. The directions say 12 minutes then immediately run them under cold water. They are undercooked if you do it that way. I do 15 minutes, then let them sit on the counter for two minutes to cool, then I run them under cold water. They come out perfect after that. My only complaint is at least one egg, when cooking squeezes out of the whole you making the egg. You lose a little bit of egg white on at least one batch.

I love this little egg cooker! It's one of the only appliances that my dad will even use besides a toaster. What makes it even better is that the shell is sooo easy to peel after you hard boil the eggs. When my mom hard boils eggs on the stove, the shells are a pain in the a$$ to peel because they stick to the egg.

This little egg cooker does a great job. I adjusted the amount of water I add so that the yolks don't get too dry, but that you just mess with and figure out your liking. The first cook I did a test and poked holes in some eggs, not in others. No difference... maybe a tiny bit easier to peel those with holes than those without holes. So, now I don't poke any of them and they are great. Peel easily, no gray ring, no rubbery whites. Easy to clean the pan in the bottom of unit, just wipe it. Very happy with this purchase. Money well spent.

Works great and just what I expected from the picture and description. The lid and trays are plastic. If you have lots of people using it, I would recommend one that is sturdier.

Just like the one our friend in Germany has (except of course of the power source). We liked his and we really like ours since we like different stages of cooked eggs. Sure beats the "guess work" when it comes to cooking eggs.

I hardboiled four cold organic brown eggs to test out the cooker. They cooked in approximately 10-12 minutes. The eggs peeled easily, emerging from their shells in one pretty piece. One quibble: The enclosed cooker instructions need to be rewritten (I'll do it, Elite Cuisine; I'm a technical writer. Get in touch!), but luckily the process is intuitive and I didn't have to spend much time figuring it out.

Recommended.
