These are not jasper I hate to say it. I opened the box, saw 14.2 next to the serial and returned it right away. I actually went to Kmart.com and bought the Resident Evil Xbox and that had the Jasper chip. Kmart/Sears still has a bunch of RE Xbox elites left.
I purchased an xBoy 360 Elite at Target yesterday. It had part number FAA-00059, and had a Jasper motherboard. I used the info on the following link to be sure I was looking in the right place to distinguish a Jasper from a Falcon: http://www.360-hq.com/xbox-tutorials-81.html
I looked on bestbuy.com and it said all the locations were sold out of the elite, but I checked the store today and found 4 of them just sitting there. The guy that worked there said that the Jasper ones are in the new packaging that has a white top and gray bottom (like the pic amazon shows). I guess the old ones are in an all gray packaging. Also I looked for the part number FAA-00059 like Diana F stated. Looks like I got the right one. Yay!
Careful with Dell...they sometimes are selling older stock; sometimes very much older and their return policy is a pain in the a$$. These may in fact be the new Jasper models (they are listed as FAA-) but just be warned they could be selling an older version. I ordered a Pro about 6 weeks ago (it was 15% off) that was manufactured last October (08). I sent it back, but had to pay for return shipping since there was no fault of theirs. Worked out with the new price drop and Jasper Elites...
oh that blows, I wonder if there's anyway you could call DELL and ask specifically for a 12,1a ?
I guess you have to just go into to retail store to be sure, I just went into to wal-mart and asked if I could see the box and I was able to see 12,1 a in the small hole in the bottom. You don't really have to peel the cardboard at all to see it.
I'm looking at the site for Dell, and it seems contradictory. They mention that it is model number FAA-00059, which should be the new Jasper, but in the included cables, it mentions a HDMI, which the new white boxes do not include.
